This post is addressed to all the ladies out there who have been in the States for a while.

The Philippines has no cold weather. Right now here in Iowa, I can set a pail of water on my front step and its frozen in the morning. Its like living in a huge freezer. :o

I have spent some time in Baguio and its about the coldest place in the Phil's that I can find. And its not really cold...

So, now my question:

How do you gals adapt to cold weather?

Is there anything special I should do to prepare for my love to arrive here?

Its just not possible to crank up the furnace to 80 degrees.

What can I do to make my (L) love (L) comfortable and warm?

GWN

I'm not in the States yet but I must say that I wouldn't have any problem with weather that's too cold. That's because I'll be living in Riverside County, California where right now, my fiance says, is 80 degrees!

I'm in Wisconsin .... starting tomorrow for the rest of the week .... our temps are going to be 0 and below with a windchill of -20 to -40 below .... growing up in Minnesota and now being in Wisconsin even I can't stand that kind of cold.

As to the OP I have no suggestions because I don't know yet ... but I know my love doesn't like the cold .... but she has yet to experience this kind of cold here in the States. Right now she says it is cold there in Leyte lately .... its in the mid to upper 70's hehehe ....

Tell her to go to Star City's Snow World to help start her AOT (Adjustment Of Temperature). :star:

J's right. It's a good start I think to get used with bit to extreme cold temperature. A lot of people went there, including J and I but after a few minutes, most of those who we were with decided to leave because they couldn't take the temperature much

Yes, being in Michigan, I have wondered what my Bing will think of the cold when she gets here. One of the first things I did after we met was to send her a picture of my home with a couple of feet of snow on the ground. I try to explain what its like but unless you have felt sub-freezing temps you have no idea.

I am hoping she will arrive before summer is over and then we can ease into Winter

you are all very kind... I sent my wife a picture of the Blizzard of "77" (1977) from buffalo NY..and explained to her that the winters was like that.. although I don't live there, hahaha. actually I live in northwest NJ.. but it was fun to see her expression when she saw the snow almost to the roof of the house and the cars completely buried in snow.

We are in Misouri. This is Ruchie and Mathews 2nd winter here. I was suprised how quickly they adapted to the cold weather. Buy her a lot of skin lotion and have as much sex as you can to take off the chill. Works for me!!!

But then, the spirit might be willing but the flesh is weak! And, besides, the freeezing temperature won't help.

still keep in mind that no matter how much you wear, being outside in sub 0 temperatures ain't a bright idea.

I have spent 52 years living in Iowa so I know pretty much what this old lady can dish out!

Sub Zero is not that big a deal if dressed correctly. Not much anyone can do about it so you just learn to live with it.

you're braver than i am. i hate cold weather, all part of being from texas.

but seriously, i'm certain since many of the gals are unfamiliar with the cold, hypothermia, and so on, it's best if they are very cautious about being out when it's that cold.

Oh Yes!! I agree 1000%

That was the main reason I was wanting to know how some of the ladies had handled the problem.

I'm in the same boat as you buddy. I live in NH. Last year we had 125 inches of snow, it set a new record. This year we are looking like it could be another record year. Cherel is excited to get here to see the snow but I don't think she truly understands how cold it is here. She is wrapped in a blanket right now in in Angeles City because it is only 75 degrees.

I'm praying that this whole global warming thing that Al Gore keeps promising us will happen soon.

We live in Northern California and it's not as cold as some of the places you all live. But the winter here is always wet and some mornings there is frost on the ground and frozen puddles everywhere. The first few days and weeks when I got here, I was always complaining of the cold temperature and it was not even winter yet. Finally, my husband bought a flannel night gown and an electric blanket and I think I spent my first six months living underneath that blanket plus I've got my slipper socks, fuzzy slipper and pajamas. How cold it is? Freaking cold for me. You need to dress in layers. My good friend from Texas that I knew from the Philippines sent me a care package when I first got here and it contained slipper socks, sweaters and gloves. My sister in-law also gave me some sweaters, jackets, scarf and a pair of gloves. Oh yeah, my husband got me a wool cap. If you keep your head warm, your body stays warm. That's important too.

p.s. They got hot water here in America, and that makes a big difference. Mainit na tubig "hot water"!

When I arrived here in IL, the highest temperature that I had was 60degrees last september. It's very cold for me then. I always say to my husband it's very cold and he just answered me "it's not yet, wait and you'll see." and it comes to my mind that there should be very cold than that. what I did always wear thick clothes inside the house and lit the fireplace and stay in front of it when I am very cold already. at night I have my heating pad with me in bed...but I tried my best to overcome that cold...and now I am quite used of the cold already...inside the house we set furnace to 70.

have an electric blanket for her during night at bed time...thermal wear during daytime...and have her thick jackets when going out. she will learn on wearing socks everyday.

don't worry, I know your love is a brave one...she can handle it...good luck to both of you!!!
