Copy of birth certificate

Hi all,

I have a question about the birth certificate that we need to give to prove US citizenship. My husband asked for copies of his birth certificate.

What is written on it says that this is a "true copy of a record on file in the division of vital records".

Now when they say that we can provide a copy of the birth certificate, does it mean we can provide a copy of the "copy"? or do we need to give them the original copy?
