Oh, I can't imagine that's how hard to get contraceptive pills in US.

I used Yasmine pills when my husband was here in PI. But buying Yasmine is just a piece of cake here in PI.

I'm not so familiar with Althea though.

Want to share the good side effects of Althea?

I loved Yasmine since it makes your skin more fairer and other people said I was more blooming. It generates reg period too. As much as I wanted to still take it, but there's no reason at all anymore.

Althea is also good for the skin (basing on my obgyn's sales talk lol... coz i used to take diane in phil but she said althea is cheaper and has the same good effect for your skin)... so i guess yasmine is too then hehe...

Yasmin is a prescription drug here in the U.S. On prescription drugs, don't get caught without the patient's name/label (pharmacy sticker) in the box or packet/medicine container. Prescriptions from doctors from other countries are not recognized here. Yasmin is expensive without insurance, about $50+ for 28 days supply. It also has a generic counterpart, Ocella, which is cheaper. but still you should get prescriptions for these medications from U.S. doctors or physician assistants and even nurses (yes, nurses here can prescribe medications), and ask for refills (you don't need to call your doctor/PA/nurse every month; just request the pharmacy to refill your prescription).

OMG! Yasmine here in PI is just Php 799 that's like roughly 17-18 USD for 28 days.

I never thought that would be so expensive in the states. My MIL is a nurse so I guess I won't be having problem with a prescription when I need it.

And another option is asking a love one from PI to send supplies for Yasmine,as to what I read one of the posts here.

hey there mga kababayans, just wanna know, I just got here in Colorado, and I'm out of contraceptive pills, anybody here know where to buy? My husband just got laid off and is still in the process of looking for a job, so he lost his medical insurance and cant get contraceptive here in the USA without the doc's prescription, I have been using Althea pills for almost 6 months now, so can anyone have idea where to get the pill? thanks to everyone who will take time to reply. Have a fruitful 2009 everyone.

As a previous poster suggested Planned Parenthood is a good resource for getting birth control without health insurance

I'm not sure where you are in Colorado but below is a link to find the nearest Planned Parenthood in your area...just enter in your zip code

Try to call Department Of Health near you, because they have a program for family planning or you can send money to the Phils and ask someone to buy for you there and send it here. I sent money to the Phils to buy for my antibiotics there.

Please understand that any drug you bring into the country that is on the approved list of the FDA and requires a perscription or is not on that list is against the law. This is why we can't bring drugs from Canada....

And you can be deported...

there is now contraceptive that is good for 5 years just forgot the name.its the same kind of an IUD but very safe ..that way you don't have to be taking pills every day. Getting PILLS from Pinas is not really a good Idea . You can also go to your local health department for free family planning and pills supply.

i vote for yasmin- been using it for years. its great! don't know any remarkable side effects except the "blooming" part that ronmay mentioned. Anyway, i also don't have idea about althea- looks like its popular in US. UAE is a no-no premarital sex but pills are just over the counter(like in Ph). You would think US is a lot more liberal but then again....health issues is another so i think its a good way to ensure one is taking medicines appropriately.

My sister got the new IUD called Mirena and it was a disaster. I do not recc using that a form of birth control. And you cant get it unless you have had a child.

you don't want to do that... in the US the law is that you can't get birth control pills unless its prescribed to you. If they caught you, there might be some consequences because obviously you are getting birth control pills from the Philippines when they have birth control pills here. You are ignoring their law here if thats the case. I wouldnt want to continue that if i were you.
