My husband and step-kids are getting ready to head out to the airport soon for the red-eye flight to Montreal. They have their medical on Monday and interview on Friday. We'll post a review once they get back. We've gone over everything they need a million times- I sure hope we haven't forgotten anything ! Anyone else going next week to Montreal ?

If you want to post all the documents you have sent, please do in case you think you have forgotten anything (that makes some people feel better)

Other than that, just remember who you are sending to the interview, your lovely family - it really will be just fine :)

24 Apr 2009- Interview in Montreal...Approved!!!

30 Apr 2009- Received Visa... few hours later crossed to border for the 6 day drive to Utah!!

6 Apr 2009- Arrived at our new HOME!!

13 May 2009- Welcome letter received

19 May 2009- Went to social security office and "applied" for SSN

22 May 2009- SS Card arrived in mail!! (I guess they did send in the paperwork at the interview...)

Holy smokes. They sure don't make it easy on people, do they? They have to fly to Montreal for their medical AND their interview. Wow. That's pretty much a week in Montreal. While I do love it there, this is certainly not the time of year to be spending time in that fair (freezing cold) city. LOL

Could be worse--could have to goto Toronto and be forced to go to a Leafs game!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

They have fridges, so stock up on beer/wine!!
