Well, I have quite a few question as how to fill the marriage application form and could not find a better sub-forum to ask.

The moderator may move it to some the appropriate sub forum.

Could somebody guide me on filling the marriage application for at my local county. I downloaded the form from the Allegheny County site.

I am the foreign fiance' here :

1)birthplace city and state but no country : where do I fill my country ?

marriage . date ended , how : this is for divorced folks ?

residence, city, state for groom and parents : again where is the country ? filling other details without the country does not make sense to me ?

grooms occupation : as of now, I cannot work.

relationship of two parties : what does it mean ?

social security no ? yet to receive it, so does that mean I cannot apply for marriage ?

thanks for the help in advance :)

I am the foreign fiance' here :

1)birthplace city and state but no country : where do I fill my country ? For us, we simply put the country after the state (same space)

marriage . date ended , how : this is for divorced folks ?Appears so - for previous marriage if any.

residence, city, state for groom and parents : again where is the country ? filling other details without the country does not make sense to me ? See above

grooms occupation : as of now, I cannot work.Just put none.

relationship of two parties : what does it mean ? I'd put 'none'

social security no ? yet to receive it, so does that mean I cannot apply for marriage ? In Texas - if you have it, put it, otherwise write "none" not sure about your state.

thanks for the help in advance :)

Here's a link to the form if others want to add their opinion.. LINK

Thank you very much :)

An oversight on my part - not a huge deal either way - under Occupation - just an FYI, you don't have to actually be employed/working to have an occupation (i.e., a Doctor who's not currently working anywhere is still a Doctor).

But, you did put in "none" didn't you ;)

I hope I dont have to wait for my SS papers before I file in the marriage application

On my application, directions stated to use "000-00-0000" if there's no SSN yet. Double check to see if the directions address this case. (though in reality, it doesn't matter either way)

Right, I'd list your occupation based on your previous job, if any. My wife would have listed "retail management" even though her only job in the USA later and so far has been "waitress" and for the first year was "none". If there's not room for State/Province and Country, just put the Country in the space for State.

Since both of you will need to go to the clerk's office to file for the marriage license, they will help you complete the form. It requires both of your signatures, SSN or visa number, & photo IDs, at least in Virginia and probably elsewhere.

Interesting, in Minnesota only one person is needed to file for licence. We went together but they didn't even want to look at our ID, just asked my husband to swear regarding all the info. Never had a question about occupation, SSN or anything such. Funny, ha?...

Ditto that. I had my (Minnesota) marriage license before we even had the K-1 visa. The requirements vary by state, and sometimes even by county. Best to contact your county clerk with any questions you may had. I had a nice handful of questions which they politely explained answers to.
