Thank god we're rid of Bush and that halfwit McCain and his clueless sidekick didn't win either! I'm glad I'll be seeing Obama sworn in. It'll be interesting to see it happen (even on TV) here in the US. I was disugsted as most of the world was I'm sure when they seen Bush "win" first time and second time around. Maybe some intelligent decisions will be made in this country and some good changes made. Bush has destroyed so much of the good repetition the US had around the world.

Nominated for best post of the year award.:thumbs:

I remember traveling abroad and people pointing at me calling me "Bush" and saying other things I can't type here without them being turned into pound signs.

Now when I travel in Europe and Asia, people point and say "Obama" and they smile.

How is it that the rest of the world can see President-Elect Obama as a positive choice, but some here think it's doomsday?

 spooky be nice :bonk:

I'm not trying to be mean. I too am hopeful of better things to come. But I also don't think he can walk on water.

I personally have seen him perform miracles.

I saw him walk under water. I saw him cure a ham, and I heard he could make a blind man lame.

I didn't hear all this hopelessness when Bush came into his first or second term....and he's proof that one man can change the world.

i can walk on water, but only during the wintertime :innocent:

Then run for president man! I was going to vote you King of that Island a few years ago in mena, remember that? I'd surely vote you in for this. :P

I hold significant hope that Obama can foster some positive change in this country.

He is intelligent and has surrounded himself with some of the best, minus a few.

At the end of the day, he will be very productive.

Set aside your bias and embrace our new President.

BTW, I am Republican, yet I can align with change.

I feel that Obama is going way over board on this inauguration thing. Lincoln was Lincoln, and Obama is not Lincoln. Would be far more impressed if Obama drives in a hybrid from Chicago to D.C., even more so, if he hitched hiked his way over.

When they start treating a person like a god, that person may even think they are a god, when in that office, they are to be a servant of the people. Really feel Obama is starting off on the wrong foot.

So what are they going to do with those tens of thousands portraits of GWB that is hanging in just about any public building in the USA? I could use one of those frames. Dicatorship countries love to hang huge portraits of their self supported leaded, that is not the American way and I certainly do not like putting all of my eggs in one person, that is not what this country is suppose to be all about. We are a people, not a person.

I said my piece.

It's called a Cult of Personality. There is a cool song about it. Most appropriate.

Cult Of Personality

by Living Colour

Look into my eyes, what do you see?

Cult of Personality

I know your anger, I know your dreams

I've been everything you want to be

I'm the Cult of Personality

Like Mussolini and Kennedy

I'm the Cult of Personality

Cult of Personality

Cult of Personality

Neon lights, A Nobel Price

The mirror speaks, the reflection lies

You don't have to follow me

Only you can set me free

I sell the things you need to be

I'm the smiling face on your T.V.

I'm the Cult of Personality

I exploit you still you love me

I tell you one and one makes three

I'm the Cult of Personality

Like Joseph Stalin and Gandi

I'm the Cult of Personality

Cult of Personality

Cult of Personality

Neon lights a Nobel Prize

A leader speaks, that leader dies

You don't have to follow me

Only you can set you free

You gave me fortune

You gave me fame

You gave me power in your God's name

I'm every person you need to be

I'm the Cult of Personality

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

I don't hate Obama, but isn't a little premature to be leading a countdown thread to his inauguration? It's a little too early to think of him as either "good" or "bad." He hasn't sat in the Oval Office for one day, so I can't see how he deserves any praise or condemnation. We need to take a "wait and see" approach.

All I can say is, I hope that I am totally wrong about him. I think I speak for a lot of people in saying that.

When America chose Obama, it was the presidential equivalent of those poor souls who come here and say "I don't really know anything about her, but I am absolutely positive it's true love... isn't it?"

Once in a while, it really is. And for the sake of my family, my country, and the free world, I hope this is one of those once in a whiles. But... that's not the kind of hope we were hoping for.

It was another election of the lesser of two weasels. The honeymoon will soon be over for a lot of people.

And the divorce is at hand for some who have blindly been suffering through a nightmarish marriage of 8 years.
