I admit that I'm somewhat of a newbie here so forgive me if this may seem out of sorts. How's this for a concept, the USCIS, NVC, and the U.S. Consulates worldwide receive a very large quantity of visa applications, nuff said.

Now, if there were some standards on how many pages of phone bills, exactly how many years of W-2's and income tax statements, how many correspondence with each other, so on and so forth, along with a table of contents and having the order of items exactly as the other thousands that are waiting on being view, wouldn't this expedite the process and solve some of the backlog?

If everyone put their K1 and K3 visa packets together the exact same way, along with the packet 3 and any other packet that may come down the tube this would save time on the personnel in each of the departments.

This is just a thought, I know that if I had to view more than one each day I'd love to see each and every one in the same order as before. This would make for better reading and reviewing of each and every case.

I realize that there are already standards and required forms but if we went one step further and indexed each K1 and K3 visa the same, I feel that this would reduce some workload on each department, just a thought. Please feel free to criticize, ridicule, blast me or anything else you deem necessary in response to this post.

Think about it though, a table of contents that each user can download and section off their own visa application so that the USCIS will find reviewing the application easier. Again, just a thought.

Thanks

Problem is that people have different things to prove their relationship. For instance, I don´t talk to my fiance on the phone ´cus we have skype and it´s free so why waste money on phone calls?

Also, I sent them a copy of my graduation certificate which states the date of my ceremony, with pictures showing my fiance was there. This is not usual evidence other couples send so how can they make the proof standard?

I agree totally with different means of proving the relationship. But think about it, if the required forms are placed first in a particular order, then the proof of the relationship, whatever the proof may be. Do you see where I'm going with this?

It's not about "Jimmy doesn't have phone records but Sammy does", it's about the order of the paperwork, making it easier for each department to find things throughout the packet. Say for example the officer needs to find the I-129 form or whichever form, it should be as simple as it being the second form in the packet. If each K1 or K3 packet submitted could be in a particular format this might make it easier on the people in each department, easing their workload, and perhaps a happier department employee.

I know that each and every K1 and K3 application is going to be different but there are set forms that need to be filled out by the applicants and perhaps the "proof of the relationship" is going to have different items but it will all be indexed the same with perhaps different titles for the index like "emails" instead of "phone bills", is this making sense?

I believe the easier that we can make their jobs the faster the visa's will be reviewed and approved, again, just a thought.

Thanks

At least from VJ who read the guides have sent in the same cover letter so everyone here submitts their paperwork pretty much in the same order.

Keith & Xiang,

The USCIS web site has instructions for the order in which submissions should be assembled. I used their requested order to prepare my cover letter and index my submission. You can, too.

Keep in mind that everyone's situation is different. Although many couples will be similar, there will be very wide variations. That's why USCIS and DoS don't tell you what to provide, they tell you what you have to demonstrate, leaving it up to each couple to submit evidence as appropriate for their personal situation.

A fixed list or fixed standards would be too inflexible, leaving someone disenfranchised no matter how the list or standard was structured.
