About another 7 years or so until a visa becomes available to you. see here for the dates http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_4406.html

You are in the Family sponsored preference group "first" so you will see that people who have a priority date of June 2002 are now having visas become available to them.

Sorry but you are in for a long wait.

Just thank god its not your brother filing the I-130 for you. Look at the bulletin under the Brothers and Sister category, it will at least make you feel better. :P

Is your father currently living in the US? Has he been living her for the last 5 years? If he has, you are an Immediate Relative (IR) and a visa will be available to you very shorty during this year.

F1 category, unmarried children of USC, only apply when the child is 21 years or older which disqualifies the child from being an IR. This category is also for children of USC who cannot claim citizenship based on their parent's US citizenship; i.e. naturalized citizen who did not have a child living with them. I assume that as you have been living in Tunisia, you have not been living with your father in the US when he became a USC.

Have you registered online at uscis.gov to check your status?

From the USCIS website.

"People who want to become immigrants are classified into categories based on a preference system. The immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, which includes parents, spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21, do not have to wait for an immigrant visa number to become available once the visa petition filed for them is approved by USCIS. An immigrant visa number will become immediately available. The relatives in the remaining categories must wait for an immigrant visa number to become available according to the following preferences:

*

First preference: Unmarried, adult sons and daughters of U.S. citizens. Adult means 21 years of age or older."

This is absolutely correct. You're still under 21 and we're under 18 in 2001 (the effective date of the child citizenship act), so even if you turn 21 and the application is still pending with USCIS, it will still be processed in the same "Child Under 21" category. Then once it is sent to the NVC a visa will be immediately...well I think aaron2020 covered it. You're in great shape, good luck.

Everybody needs a visa number.
