yeah but does registering your car in the states knock it out of its temporarily out of the country thing? If not, thats the way I would go too for sure!

You're damned if you do and damned if you don't!

If you try to say nothing, you might get lucky like the Texas folks on here and they register your car as 'non-owned' with a lien on it and they go on their merry way....

or you could get flagged as they will report to your financial co... and honestly, we are deemed undesirable on both ends at that point... no car loan co will want to risk an out of country arrangement, and the US will look at you like, 'hello new comer with not an ounce of credit history, how may we deny you...er, I mean, help you?' lol!

I like to take the honest route. Jill on this board said that PA was pretty documented plus I read on their website that they notify your co... soooooo I will battle it out tmrw...

From what the person told me, they expect me to register it down there, but change it back when "I come back up" or, I don't register it until my loan is payed off. I'd have to get the details, I'm not moving for 10 months yet.

oh yeah it wont be till the end of the year for me either, but seeing as we are dealing with the same finance company its great that you are sharing the info you've gathered. I work the time their office is open so I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone to ask, and my fianance chick at the dealership directed me to their phone number, so i don't think she knows how to deal with it, so the info you give is greatly (HUGELY) appriciated because then I know what to go into the dealership asking for!

I LOVE YOU! lol.

When you register the vehicle in your State you have to disclose who holds the lien on the car. They won't release the ownership (registration in the States) to you.... it goes to the lien-holder. Which means you would have had to have had the immigration discussion with the lien-holder in Canada. Depending on how you have financed the loan, some institutions will not allow you to remove the asset from the country. Speak with them, first, to know which direction you must take.
