USEM interview experience

[FCH 1]

mine happened on january 7, 2009.

met a new friend here on vj and we met up the night before and went in together for the interview. (hello girl!)

so we arrived the embassy an hour before the interview. the line was long.

the guard checked for my name on the list - it was not there! but i had my NVC letter and email print out of my interview confirmation.

so i got in. had my stuff go through the security xray.

proceeded to the room where we all took a seat. this young lady kept giving us instructions on how to arrange our papers and told us to get our priority numbers on the counter by the door. so well went there and the two ladies handing out the numbers, took the DS papers.

they were not nice.

and they kept asking tricky questions.

this one girl asked me ... where is your passport?

and i said ... didnt st lukes take them after the medical exams and sent them here?

next she said ... why did you have a medical exam? (in a rude tone)

so i replied ... duh. cos i had to.

then she said ... youre alright. please take a seat.

so all the waits werent that long compared to the waiting time at SLEC.

the next step was fingerprinting. which smoothly.

another wait and now for the pre-screening.

done by a local officer at the embassy. mine was this middle-aged kind-looking man. and yes, he was kind. and smiled a lot.

asked for my NBI clearance, CENOMAR, birth certificate. and my fiance's affidavit of support.

his questions:

- how did i meet my fiance

- when was the last time i left for the US

- how long did i stay in the US

then he asked for 2 more visa photos and handed him the pics.

he asked for all our proof of relationship so i gave him all i have with me except the photos cos they just couldnt fit in the window slot.

then he told me my visitors visa will have to be cancelled if i get approved for K1. and he wished me luck on the consul interview.

it wasnt that long when my name was called again for the consul interview.

i went in the room.

saw a good-looking young consul. he said ... hello. happy new year.

and i said ... good morning sir. happy new year to you too.

he was nice. soft spoken.

questions asked:

- what is the name of your fiance

- where did you meet him

- how long was your last stay in the US

- what does your fiance do for a living

- has he been to the philippines

then he asked if my fiance was previously married and i said yes.

and i handed him the divorce decree. and he said... its alright. no need.

then the light at the end of the tunnel was ... well your papers all look good to me. there should be no problem. please claim your slip after this interview. good day.

i got up. thanked the consul. and went to the window that handed out the pink slips.

paid delbros.

back to the hotel.

was in at 6am. interview schedule at 7am. done by 940am.

whew! prayers answered.

God is good. all the time.
