Timeline

I have my non-immigrant visa which is K-3, and i find out it here in VJ's that i can file for the EAD before filing the AOS? is that possible? its here in Guide of VJ'S on how to file EAD in (a)(9) category but i dont have any idea if i need to pay for the application? help me please thank you.....

EAD APPLICATION:

2009-01-10 ----- E-filed EAD Application

2009-01-20 ------NOA1 Receipt Notice

2009-01-22 ------Biometrics appointment recieved by mail

2009-02-11-------Biometrics Date (done smoothly)

2009-4-15 -------- EAD Approved

2009-4-24 -------- EAD Received by mail ( yyyeeeeessssss)

As a K3, you may file for an EAD without filing the AOS. You will have to pay the EAD fee. Check the USCIS website for the most recent fee rate. I believe they will give you a 2yr EAD. You then have the option to wait until it's almost or just after your 2nd wedding anniversary to file the AOS so that you get the 10yr green card (no need to file for removal of conditions). The only downside to this is that you will also have to wait a bit longer to file for citizenship as you only become eligible on the 90 days before the 3rd year anniversary of the green card.

08/21/08: TSC cashed check

09/02/08: Received NOA...........Priority date: 08/20/08

09/02/08: Received Biometrics Notification

09/18/08: Biometrics completed - Charlotte DO

10/24/08: Received Interview Letter

12/08/08: Interview @ 1:00pm. APPROVED!

01/05/09: Oath Ceremony 10:00AM. Now officially a USC!!!

01/17/09: Applied for US Passport and passport card

01/28/09: Received US Passport

01/29/09: Received US passport card

01/29/09: Received naturalization certificate back from passport office

thank you for t he reply i check it out yesterday from uscis website the payment for filing EAD separately will be 340 so im thinking maybe much better if im going to file it along with my AOS to save money hehehehe, God Bless!!!
