So I was on a floor shift...10:30-12:30. Floor is highly sought after cos any leads that call into the office during your shift are yours to keep. We have so many new agents also that floor has gone from 3 shifts a mo each to 2 some months. But there's always someone who needs to dump his/her shift & I'm well known for usually taking them. To me, it's like I'm missing out on something...I can't say no cos if I turn something down, that could be the shift where you get THAT CALL. The one that brings home the serious bacon.

ANYWAYS....as you guys know, David's here. I was hoping no one needed to dump floor while he was here. So far so good. Today's shift was from someone else, but it worked out ok cos he walked over the road to the sports bar to watch Germany v Costa Rica. The plan was at 1230 I'd meet him there, we'd have lunch, watch the rest of the game, and spend the rest of the day together.

Well the guy scheduled for floor after me (a newbie) NEVER SHOWED UP. So I call him. I'm all 'hey you on your way here or what?' He's like (stoner voice) 'oh sh!t was that today?' Then he says 'oh well I'll send out an email to see who will cover it'

A few things: 1 - He's dead new and he shouldn't be so cavalier about his schedule & throwing someone in it.

2 - His shift had started 10 mins before I called him. One cannot arrange cover IN AN OFFICEWIDE EMAIL in such short notice.

3 - It forced me to cover it. Not necc FORCED me per se, but how in the world could I walk away from a shift? But even if I DIDN'T want to cover it, I cannot leave the floor unsupervised. I haven't eaten a damn thing today cos I was planing lunch at 1245 & now I'm stuck til 2:30

What a stupid #######!

I just called the bar David is at & told him I can't make lunch :( Oh, and floor is dead as a doornail today :( I'm still hoping for that $1 mil call so I can rub his face in it, lol.

Well, see that's the thing, I'd take the shift anyways because it's an opportunity that I cannot pass up in fear I'd miss a whale.

So I guess Mr. Stoner did you a favor! Hey it's his loss - now he doesn't have as much money to buy dope.

Don't you just wish that HUGE call had come in on what was supposed to have been his shift??

Is "unability" a word?....I thought it was "inability"...

Either way-Lisa, hope your shift goes quick and you DO get that call...You deserve it; and it would serve the plonker right who didn't turn up! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Hope you are having a great time; my Yahoo msgr keeps locking up-so I hope you get to read this!

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

No I'm not mad at my inability to say no..I.. accept that as part of who I am. What I AM mad at, is the gall of someone to not be professional & to drop a colleague in it. One should not work without respect for one's coworkers. What if I had a closing? Or an appt? While it is perfect for him that I was able to cover it...I don't appreciate people who have no respect for others or their schedules. That's fine...if someone legitimately forgot....but not that it's taken so lightly like 'no big deal' I'm also quite annoyed because as a new person trying to mesh with the office, you should be extra diligent to not step on people's toes.

Oh, and the guy walked in and he's actually sat at his desk right now doing nothing, lol

Just so I'm clear, I have no idea whether the guy is a stoner or not, he just sounds like one to me, lol.

And Shele, I'll ttyl hon!
