we are looking into going to mexico for dental work. my husband needs some dental implants, fillings, and a crown. We found a lot of information online, but I'm wondering if anyone here has a personal recommendation. there is one dentist named dr rosy in cabo san lucas that we have read about being a good one. we have never been to cabo or mexico for that matter, so im wondering if we can stay someplace decent and cheap or is it all overpriced resorts? what is the best way to get there? how much does food cost? and what kinds of fun things are there to do- we are in our 30s, and like nature and kayaking, surfing, hiking, stuff like that.

THANKS!

Be careful. Dentistry outside the US is suspect to say the least.

Dr. Mauricio More Chueri in the WTC in Mexico City is amazing; though not cheap at all. I've been his patient for more than 8 years and he has folks flying from all over. PM me if you want his email - I think I have it somewhere.

And jasman, don't be judgmental without experience, mmm'kay bro?

I have driven the entire peninsula of Baja California. Most recently, I spent the weekend in Tijuana and I had a great time despite news reports of fighting between the cartels. Cabo is safe, and the latest reports (from Doug Means - Baja Nomad) are that the town is EMPTY of tourists. The economy and bad press about Mexico are the reasons. So, now is the time to go there.

Post this question on BAJANOMAD.COM and you will get several responses. I am a member there, and an integral part of the "Nomad Community."

My recommendation would be to visit La Paz instead. It is a real city, and the weather there is incredible. Cabo as well as San Jose del Cabo are very touristy. San Jose del Cabo is less expensive than Cabo San Lucas. When I stayed there, I stayed at Delfin Blanco, but I wouldn't recommend it. With so many empty tourist places, Cabo would be a great place to book, but if it were me, I would choose La Paz over Cabo.

been to mexico in 02 for a day trip, got my teeth cleaned there just across the border.

you'd not believe the number of people sitting outside dental offices in mexico awaiting treatment. my father would drive from san antonio down to there for a day trip for dental work. cost was about 1/4 to 1/3 that in the usa

and the quality i'd rate as excellent, and there was very positive grades given by my father.
