Hi folks,

I noticed that the i-485 AOS application asks for the applicant's Social security number. Is it mandatory that a SSN be received prior to applying for the Adjustment of Status or can this be left blank on the form?

Thanks!

Jillian

We applied for SSN before AOS, but didn't receive it till a month after filing for AOS. We left the SSN field blank in the application, I don't believe it's a requirement to have it for filing.

SSN is not mandatory - write "None" if you don't have it.
