Not unless you are using the entry stamps as proof of relationship (Visiting fiancee). If you have other evidence then expired passports are not needed.

Thanks, YuAndDan. But don't we have to show them as a proof of requirements/non-requirements of police certificate(s)? Or travelling recrods to the US? I haven't stayed in other countries longer than 12 months. But I'm curious how do they decide if people need to get police certificates (from foreign countries) without departure/entry records (old passports)?

You dont need to get any police cert from the USA, Name checks handle that for you.

Note: Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S.

No, I meant police certificates from foreign countries other than US or my home country (Japan).

The old passports are NOT a requirement, my wife had her old passport and did not bring it to the visa interview it did not come up even with noting a 1 week visit to Vietnam.
