getting SSN in 2 weeks

Hello, all VJs, a little update about my situation now. I went to the SSN office in VA today applying for my SSN, I had no problem, I had my passport with me and a translated birth certificate, however, the lady told me that they only accept translations issued by the US embassy which I don't have, so it was fine, and I was called to the counter and that's it. If I want to change my name after the marriage, I will have to go back to the office again.

I am really glad that it went really smoothly.

You don't have an SSN or card yet, so just being about to submit an application isn't reason to start dancing. Getting a document translated can sometimes take a while, but they can use the passport in place of the BC to verify your age if the translation is going to hold things up and did your status verify? Did they say you will be assigned the SSN and issued a card?

Getting a document translated can sometimes take a while, but they can use the passport in place of the BC to verify your age if the translation is going to hold things up and did your status verify? Did they say you will be assigned the SSN and issued a card?

Yes, they did say that I will get my SSN and the card in 2 weeks. :thumbs:

Yes, they did say that I will get my SSN and the card in 2 weeks. :thumbs:

OK so they must have use the passport for proof of age, so I guess you can start dancing. LOL
