Help! I'm new to this site. Anyone from Vietnam going thru this process? Wondering how long it took you to get approved. I am so worried about my paper work not going through right :crying: . I did it by myself. If anything is wrong will they let you know? Thanks!

I'm not sure about Hanoi, but the Ho Chi Minh consulate believes there is a high number of scam relationships and so applications they review come under a lot of scrutiny.

Because of this, there is probably not an easy way to approximate how long it'll take. I've seen some folks fight the system for years and others pass through relatively quickly.

Some things may delay your process. For example, if the petitioner is of Vietnamese descent, they will probably ask for more documentation. (Specifically, the petitioner's birth certificate their parent's birth certificates as well as the beneficiary's birth certificate and their parent's. I believe it's to ensure that the petitioner and beneficiary aren't related.) If you've only visited once, you may be questioned more closely. If you were introduced by a "family friend", this may cause some concerns. None of these are grounds for an outright denial, but they may be more suspicious.

Best of luck!
