Hello VJ,

I have an interview for my AOS (I-485) in two weeks from today, day for day. My questions is: Is it possible to have an AOS inteview without having the I-130 approve? Thank you in advance for your inputs.

Hello,

We have also received my 'Request for Initial Interview' Notice. Our interview will be on February 05, 2009. I too do not have an approved I-130. The last thing we did was my Biometrics, in December 09, 2008.

We submitted my paperwork to Chicago on November 06, 2008.

I am applying for AOS, married to US Citizen (my husband)

I was wondering the same thing! I see through other people's timelines that they usually get the EAD before they get an interview.

But I also read here in some posts, that the processes for I-130, I-485 and EAD and AP are all independent of each other.

? It does make you wonder

I am very glad we have an appointment so soon, and I am getting all our documents ready for the big day

I wish you the best luck. Let us know how your appointment went!

Filed Chicago LockBox 11-06-08

Filed I-4-85 / I-765

Received NOA 11-13-08

Jan 15 2009 Emailed by CRIS: EAD I-765 Approved

Jan 20 2009 AP received by mail

Jan 28 2009 EAD card received by mail

Received Green Card in the mail!

I wasn't sure about the lady told my wife when she phoned USCIS pertaining to our I-130 updates. The lady said that I-130 will be approved at the interview date along with I-485 but what I don't understand is that you cannot adjust your status without the approval of I-130...it's weird!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

:star: How exciting!

I want to thank you all, BabyShaq4, jhunjhun and Alexpapa for sharing your experience, it does make me feel a lot better to know I am not the only one out there to get a Notice for Initial Interview without the EAD, etc.

:) Now we have to get all the documents together!

May I ask what documents you are all preparing to show at your interview?

I am even going to Staples to get some fancy file folder to file everything neatly, so they can see we are very serious about this and have everything organized.

phoenixwine22,

Thank you for your inputs, I really appceciated it. Yes I have been wondering about this interview cuz I have a VD against me, most people who filed at the same time as me or after me already received they I-130 approval and EAD, I filed for AOS on August 15th. I have two weeks before my interview still nothing, I saw my I-485 was touch on the 2nd and 5th of January, but the status still the same. It's true that the processes for I-130, I-485 and EAD and AP are all independent of each other, but they also have timeline, but yet with the immigration you never know with the immigration. I also wish you the best of luck at your interview.

Hi BabyShaw4,

I was on another post thread, where many other people who had filed in November are getting letters for interviews. So, at least we are not the only ones who are getting letters for interviews so Quicly after filing. I feel bad because other people who have filed before us are still waiting for it...

I have also a friend who had to wait for 3months for EAD, she has it already, and she finally has her interview next week. She was very surprised to hear I got our interview so quickly. I will ask her to let me know how it went. I am sure she will have a succesful interview!

Keep Positive, Get all your paperwork together, and what I do when I start getting nervous or doubtful, read these wonderful VisaJourney forums, they are so UpLifting

Hi,

My wife has her AOS interview at the end of this month, the letter says that we need a government issued ID. Could my wife show them her K3 visa at the door as a government issued ID since we are going to bring it anyway for the interview, or does she have to get an ID card/drivers lincense from the MVD as a government issued ID.

I doesn't have to be an ID issued by the American government. Her passport will be fine.
