Approved!! what a relief!

All went very smoothly at the interview today with myself (f1 visa) and my wife (USC) in Los Angeles. We both didn't really sleep a wink last night as you could possibly imagine but having to get up early was a good thing. Our appointment was for 8am, we left the apt at 6.45 and parked in the lot right across the street. We got in the INS building line outside at around 7.20, it was pretty long but moved quick enough. Once in we were barely waiting 15 mins and called pretty promptly, maybe 5 mins after our scheduled time. Once in his little office we were sworn in and then asked to sit. I think the first few questions were the most perplexing because he said, I know you're married but why are you married married? how do you convince someone you love someone else? anyway, he seemed to be happy with our answers. Then it was the usual, where did you meet? school? what do you do? etc. etc. (to both of us)

He then went on to the obligatory are you a communist, terrorist, prostitute questions and then got very chatty about various things. Him being Philippine was a big plus of course as my wife is also. We actually joked last night about who we'd ideally want to interview us and we decided on a Philippine women. so half right! He was very nice really and made it much easier once he knew we were the real deal. Never had to show any pics and didn't even mention the wedding!? (civil ceremony) We gave him plenty of documents that would come under co-mingling of assets; Car, Insurance, Lease, Phone ect. My wife was amazing and of course was very organized. He gave me a conditional GC which should arrive within a month. The guy actually showed us one pic, it was of Selma Hayek and signed to him?! apparently famous people have to go through the ordeal too!

Anyways, I'm sure those of you waiting for the big day are all nervous as hell but have faith, be organized, and I'm sure it will all turn out ok for you too.

Please let me know if you want to learn anything else from our experience by posting below. This forum has been very helpful to me during our application process and I'd be happy to help those that i can.

NOA March 3rd 2008. Approved Jan 7th 2009! woo woo (and without a lawyer too!)

Congrats!!!!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)
