Right now it's 27F (-3C) here in Idaho with a high of 37F (3C) today. I use F most of the time now and I think I've got it figured out. At least I know how warm 80 degrees is even if I don't know exactly what it is in C!

I find I can switch between them fairly easily, having lived in countries that use both. I have to do the math if I want an EXACT translation to farenheit, but I know if someone says it is 37C and they do not live in a desert with relative humidity in the single digits it is flippin hot and if it is -15C or below it's stupidly cold. Celcius just eliminates expressions for extreme weather like "triple digit days" and "subzero" temperatures. If subzero only means below freezing, it doesn't pack much of a wallup. Not hard to use both scales, though.

-35 F this morning. They called for -50 to -60 overnight with the windchill. Don't think it got that cold. It was a great day for my 2 year old to fight getting buckled into the car seat as we don't have a garage and I"m standing outside the vehicle wrestling with him to get buckled in then he had a fit getting out and threw himself down in the daycare parking lot and I had to scoop him up - oh, and did I mention I'm 7 months pregnant and having to do this.

What the hell is wrong with us. At least when I was in Canada I had the excuse that it's Canada and I'm living almost as south as I possbile can here. But now we are living in the US and we choose to live here when we good live somewhere that isn't a barren wasteland.

My vent for today.

 Yes they should! or they should at least take into consideration that its not summer anymore and there is ICE!! It takes longer to make turns and people can't stop in time if you cut in front of them! I have snow tires, but I am still cautious and careful! I am just worried about everyone else around me who still drive like its summer!!

Neiks, I so completely understand.

We are in the deep freeze now...Chicago.

Minus 40s windchill. Brrrr.... I am hibernating.

People here are in awe when I describe what it was like to live in Vancouver.

Obviously these are the USians that had never visited Seattle in the Winter.

I had one woman say to me, "Let me see if I understand you correctly. You mean to tell me that you lived at a higher latitude and it was warmer?!"

She was not impressed...felt duped.

Hahaha!

Even though the PNW or CSW (Canadian South West) was pummeled this year with snow, it has all but melted and they are experiencing "warm" temperatures now.

It is time for a visit....an extended one before I pack it in for trying out life living in Seattle.

Yes!

Well I think if it floods when the pipes thaw we might have to go home....but that won't be for a few days!

We actually have water in the bathroom, but the sink in the conference room is connected to pipes that froze and the people next door do not have running water in the bathroom so they keep coming over to use ours. Which is fine---we have a men's room and women's room even though there are only four of us in here and we are all girls. Go figger. Now that urinal will get some use.

Spirit, never mind Vancouver, it's warmer now in ALASKA than it is in Illinois! There is a what's the weather like wher you live thread on another forum I use and a guy in Anchorage said mid 40s! There is a big ol' ####### for you. Or he's full of moose #######. Not sure.

Coldest day here since 1999. -17C, or 0 if you're into F. No wind though, so it feels warmer than it did yesterday. Very dry as well, so I feel like it's a balmy day in Saskatchewan!
