We actually had rain today. I think this is only the 2nd or 3rd time this year that it's rained. Been quite a drought this season. :(

It was -34ºC with windchill here this morning. In conclusion: I cannot wait to move.

I love cold(ish) weather, but more specifically, I like rain. But don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade rain and cold temperatures for being able to wear flip flops and shorts on new years day

It's -27 right now <_<

So I said to Mike this morning - soooo maybe we should move to Victoria - where it is currently -1 btw - however, as he mentioned, how cold does it really feel - since it is obviously damper there, but I said, regardless, it has to be better than -26 (which apparently feels like -36 or something, according to weather dude - but with those temperatures does it really matter)?

Victoria vs Calgary for winter weather? You gotta be kidding me. Victoria wins hands down. Damp weather at freezing is oodles better than dealing with frostbite, chapped lips, and painful cold temperatures. I can only imagine what it costs to heat a place when it's -25 to -30°C.

From Wikipedia:

Victoria's daily temperatures rise above 30°C (86°F) on an average of one or two days per year and fall below -5°C (23°F) on an average of only 2 nights per year. During the winter, the average daily high and low temperatures are 8°C (47°F) and 4°C (38°F), respectively

Total annual precipitation is just 608 mm (23.9 in) at the Gonzales weather station in Victoria, contrasted to nearby Seattle, (137 km/85 mi away to the southeast), with 970 mm (38.2 in) of rainfall, or Vancouver, 100 km away, with 1,219 mm (48 in) of rainfall.

Wow am I ever glad I got out of Canada.

I don't know if I could last another winter there.

Like Rob and Mel said, it's been raining all day here.

I don't mind though, I like the rain and Southern Cali needs it.

Winter weather in Houston is all over the place. You get 4 seasons a week. Last Friday we set a record for coldest Dec 4th (-3°C). Right now at 9:30PM it's 14°C. It won't be getting any colder overnight.

Tomorrow is a high of 22°C.

Wednesday will be 16°/3°

Thursday will be 16°/9°

Last year in December, I remember looking at the weather gauge outside my front door at midnight. It said 80°F/80% humidity.

I know that Vancouver winters are mild in comparison to other Canadian cities...but I'm certainly looking forward to D.C.'s climate. :D

Speaking of cold damp west coast.....I flew from Houston to Vancouver Island to see family and friends a few weeks ago (early November). I must have gotten used to the humid air down south because my lips chapped up worse than they have in decades. My face started peeling as well. I'd forgotten how dry the air is on the west coast of Canada during winter time. When you live there you don't notice it at all.

On the flip side, it's humid so often down here that I hardly even recognize it anymore. During the summer, sure you feel it. But during the late fall/winter/early spring, you don't even notice it. It starts to seem normal after awhile.

I will (begrudgingly) admit that my perception of cold has changed. After two and a half years down here, I FROZE LIKE CRAZY when I went back to Vancouver Island. Even though the temp was 1° to 10°C the entire time I was there, it was frigid to me. Then I remembered that before I moved, I would go down to Texas in November for a visit and be floored at how hot it seemed when it was 20°C+ outside.

Overall, I'd sum up temperature perception as this. In BC, it's hot outside when it's hotter outside than it is inside. In TX it's cold outside when it's colder outside than it is inside. Thus once the temps drop below 20° outside, all of a sudden you notice it.

Oh believe me...I notice it!

I've got three or four face care products as well as lip protector that I use regularly...and I'm a GUY!

Trust me, I know that most of Canada has it worse than this little corner, but I've never been able to get used to long winters, mild or no.

I was about to complain about -15 but I think you win! Its suposed to snow tonight, and all day tomorrow... It probably won't accumulate to much, but its enough to make you feel freezing and miserable.

There's a HUGE snow storm coming into Ontario. Also, the weather network said that "northern Ontario" will be getting the worst of it, near blizzard conditions.

I think it might be a work from home day tomorrow.

Schools started announcing closings yesterday evening for today! The snow plows can't keep up! Supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow! Winds are gonna pick up tonight and make it a whiteout!!

How fun! At least my hubby is home from work today too :)

I keep looking outside going.... This isn't that bad.... It would be business as usual in Regina... I never ever had a snow day from school! Even when the windchills were -50!!
