Come visit! :D

Just bring a toque... and a snow shovel...

Did they close the I-25 at Cheyenne again? :crying:

I-25 is closed due to accident.

We won't be getting anywhere near 24". Well maybe get 5 or so. This is pretty typical of how the weather and the news works here. They over exagerate things way too much. Everyone at work that has lived here for a long time like myself knows to take what they said very loosly.

I work downtown Denver and it snowed all night and the roads still weren't bad at all. Things could change, but right now it's just your average Oct storm in Colorado...

Ok just checked on the weather fronts. It appears that there is an "Albuquerque Low" which means there is a potential for this to be a big storm. Didn't notice that when I posted. This happens though in Oct or May every few years and we've been missing this for quite some time, so we're way over due for the Oct/May Albuquerque Low storms...

I thought you lived in the Springs Warlord? Unfortunately I'm down in Pueblo right now and am I little worried about making it back up to the metro safely. We're trying to plot a course of action. I don't know anything about weather or weather patterns here so I'm not to sure what to expect, I just know that even if we get the minimum we'll end up with a foot, and that's a boat load of snow! Not fun.

I used to live in the Springs, moved to Denver 6 years ago. Yeah regardless of how much or little snow we'll get, driving on I-25 will be really tricky even with a little bit of snow. Monument pass will not be much fun and then between there and Denver always gets a lot more snow then the metro areas do. Minimum we'll get is just a few inches which is usually the norm. They always tend to make it more extreme, probably to get people to try and prepare better for it. It's just that it's fine light snow, but constantly falling making roads now wet, but eventually it could start packing on the roads. Might be better to either leave Pueblo now, or just staying there until tomorrow afternoon when the system gets out of here...

The only thing worse than the I-25 is driving the I-70 through Vail in the dark in a snowstorm or a downpour. Did that last time I went through there and it was fun, fun, fun. :crying:

Both can be brutal. I've actually been stranded before on the Colorado/New Mexican state line on the Raton Pass before. Driving anywhere here sucks in snow. What's worse is the abundence of Texas/Californian drivers who think since they have 4x4s that they can drive the normal speed limit or faster. 75% of our interstate accidents in snow is usually related to Texas licence plates...

Yeah, I totally agree. We had some work to do in Pueblo today anyway, so we decided to stay the night here and let the storm blow through a little. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon things are a little better. We are most worried about Monument pass, like you said, it can get a little scary up there sometimes. Its been snowing in Pueblo off and on since 9am, but its not really sticking to anything here.

Krikit- I'll definitely take some pictures tomorrow when I get back into Denver!

I drive a Tahoe and though I didn't engage the 4X4 I saw people driving OVER the speed limit and I couldn't see 25m in front of me. 4X4 doesn't help when you go off of a cliff because you drove too damn fast. :bonk: At one point, the rain was so bad the wipers were on high and I couldn't see anything. I had to drop to 35 just so I could see, but some people were still drving like crazy. #######??? The I-80 into SLC when the snow flies can be suicidal, one wrong move and it's over the edge. The last time I went through the snow was blowing horizontally. Couldn't even see 10m ahead in the dark. There were still idiots driving at full speed but the truckers sure weren't.

Just to update, we drove from Pueblo back up to Denver today. Its hard to say how much snow we got, but its well over a foot here at the house, maybe closer to two. I tried to walk through the grass and the snow is up above my knees, with areas above my hips. Its pretty crazy. The backyard is a winter wonderland! Everything is just covered. And its still snowing... not very hard but it just won't stop.

I'm even more jealous now! :(

Don't be, they still made everyone come into work still here because the storm wasn't anything really big. I was so hoping it was going to be an Albuquerque low and work would be cancelled. Booo. Probably got a little over a foot, roads are all clear though, just icy on the sidewalks...

It's been warm here for the last few days - as in highs of around 11c or so - we are having a chinook in fact. Right now the wind is howling outside.

We got another 10+ inches this weekend but I forgot to take pictures again :(

Unfortunately it snows like crazy here and starts melting away the next day so I don't have a window!! :P

That's a nice pic, LeprechaunSean. At first I was thinking "It's too dark..... I don't see anything." And then it dawned on me that you had taken a picture of the sunset.... not a bike ride.
