Our power went out twice last night - however it was because we had our portable airconditioner in the living room and it overloaded the lines

I hate when that happens! I can't have my AC unit and my microwave going at the same time or a blow a fuse, yes a fuse, my place is that old. So I have to be real careful cause I don't keep extra fuses on hand.

wow! you need to get some fuses!

Yes, this place is pretty old too, but at least they don't have fuses. We have a lamp, airconditioner, big tv and two computers in the living room - all was well until I turned on the stove - which is not even on the same circuit as the living room.

Wow, Jill, that sounds scary!

We had two quick power outages during yesterday's thunderstorm but it came back on right away. Of course, Joe was trying to copy one of his hard drives at the time and the power interruptions put the kibosh on that!

The people I know in Florida didn't get influenced by Claudette but we did - we got a bit of rain and a lot of cloud from her as she moved ashore. Mostly she seemed to go up through Alabama and Mississippi.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I heard about that storm in Toronto. My daughter sent me a beautiful picture of it. My parents' flight to England was delayed for a few hours because of it.

We had a spectacular storm late yesterday. Sideways rain and everything. We saw a lightning bolt strike just a few yards from us!! :o I nearly jumped through the roof in the restaurant (we were sitting by the window) because the clap was so loud.

We have another thunderstorm rolling in right now. We are definitely feeling the affects of Bill over here (in FL). TONS of accidents on the roads yesterday. I had a hard time driving back because of the flooding. Kept feeling like the car was going to wash away. Passed a terrible accident down the road from us. :(

no, we just have a wall unit, downstairs...

it isn't too bad downstairs.. I usually don't have to turn on the AC till around this time... we have a covering over our back patio are in the back that blocks out a lot of the sun..

it does get pretty hot upstairs though... our bedroom gets direct sunlight around this time of day...

Quite muggy this morning. We had some rain last night, but we're expecting some storms today before a cool front moves in. Highs are only supposed to be in the 70's for the next few days which will be such a delight! We haven't had a cool summer like this in over 50 years. Some people say we'll pay for it in September with temps over 100 degrees, but phooey, I don't believe it!

Well here in Calgary we have a balmy 12 degrees this morning (54F) - it has been warm and sunshiney - highs are supposed to be around 26-29 for the next several day.

So at around dusk last night we decided to go for a walk on the ridge here - this apartment building is on a ridge overlooking the city and on that ridge is part of Calgary's walkway paths - but the BUGS drove us back inside. At the bottom of the ridge is the Bow River, plus down to the Bow it is all trees, shrubs and grass, mosquito happy land.

It's a shame really, Calgary has been buggy for years now, so at the nicest time of day for walking - you can't really. Have to wait until it's dark (so you can't see the bugs  )

Looks like we are in for a pretty nice day today. 18 at the moment with a high of 21 and only 40% humidity till tonight when we are suppose to get rain. Think I may jet out and get some errands done today now that I can breathe.

hot here near Indianapolis. I love it you can go out with a tshirt on every day. But compared to other summers, it's been a cool one, just like Carla said.

Krikit - wow, that sounds like a lot of rain where you are, I can't believe you saw a lightning strike so near you. We have lots of lightnings and thunder rains here.

midwest is not renown for its weather ... so far so good though, I don't mind the heat.
