Hi people! :)

I want to bugg you with an e-mail I am sending to the Embassy in Santiago-Chile, I want to buy the plane tickets in advance (cause they are sooo expensive and its hard to get a direct flight!) and I know they received the package from NVC on Jan 2nd.

Is it too early to e-mail them? also please check if I am writing this letter correctly my english is not perfect!

Any advice is appreciated.

Love you all! (F)

I'd wait at least two weeks before inquiring. They could care less about your plane ticket situation, but it is certainly a good e-mail draft.

Of course, you won't be interviewed but maybe you can sit somewhere nearby as an observer.

Easiest way to get P3/P4 status is simply calling DOS Visa services, we did and got dates when packets were sent, and interview dates.

http://travel.state.gov/about/info/info_308.html#visa

A BIG warning booking airline tickets in advance can be expensive if the consulate has a problem and delays approval of the visa, or even denies it.

Moving to Consulate Embassy forum.

hmm...exactly. Don't even think of trying to buy his plane tickets until he is assured of a visa, and maybe even has it in hand. Lots can go wrong in between the interview and receipt of the actual visa.

I did call the NVC and a woman told me they don't give the interview date that the embassy takes care of that!. All she could tell me was that they shipped the package on Dec 24th. so I tracked it and they received it in Jan 2nd.

Regarding the plane tickets well I am just talking about the plane tickets for me and my daughter who are the americans. And I want to go for the interview anyways. He will have to wait to get a visa to buy the ticket.

Thanks, I will take your advice and wait for 2 weeks to e-mail.

NVC is different than DOS Visa services.

NVC only can give you information about a case while they have it, DOS Visa services has access to the Embassy and Consulates databases.

Of course, you won't be interviewed
Oh, boy... I wouldn't count on this at a Latin American embassy. It's good that the OP intends to attend the interview, because petitioners who skip attending can endanger issuance of the visa, by their very absence.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

No, but they can tell you if Package 3 has been sent out. The consulates tend to schedula interviews after they receive back the required forms from Packet 3.

No I haven't sent anything to my fiance in Chile yet, they lady told me to wait till he gets notified by the embassy of the apptmt. date, I'm not worried about the package cause I am taking it when I go there. I think he doesn't have to send it to the embassy before the interview.
