You make me giggle! I haven't Girl-ified the house too much, but despite not living there for more than a year, and having the biggest closet I have EVER had in my LIFE, the closet is full of stuff already.

I wonder, is cleaning the closet out "joyous" work, or just a chore? I can't decide. :) Would it be too mean to leave it to Nik to organize since he won't be working anyway? (I kid, I kid!!!)

We are at 143 days, 6 hrs, 7 mins to being married. We haven't settled on/purchased tickets for PoE yet, but looking at the last few days in September, so Maybe 130 days. Seems like a long time, but at least then it will be over for good!

Cleaning the closet was joyous work for me anyway. Pat watched on web cam and we were talking on Skype the whole time.

I've been alone in the house for 5 1/2 yrs now so it's definitely got the bachelor look.. something Pat promised to remedy.. Hell she'll off work for a while too. (Ditto on the I kid!)

Our wedding will be in July, August, or September... no definite plans yet except for the venue. (Sailboat off the Florida coast)

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: United Kingdom
Timeline

Thought I would pop down here after the invite and say hi.

Just submitted my packet 3 and heading to London in the morning for my medical.

My employer at this moment in time thinks that I'm going over to get married "Its cheaper don't you know" but we will be coming back to the UK to live. Hope that if the gods smile on us that I will have the visa with 6-8 weeks in hand so that I can tell them and give them solid notice that I'm punching the eject button for the foreseeable future.

My employer has a history of taking a glacial pace to replace staff so wanting to give them as much advance warning while not dropping myself in the poop is the order of the day.

Don't feel that comfortable with doing that but I know there's a history of people having a tough time with work schedules when giving notice.

Kind of a bummer too as I got a promotion a few months back too ( take the money & run ? ) :)

Just in case I don't get the chance to say..

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FLIGHT, MAGPIE!

Let us know when you're all settled.

Yeah Bob, we have to make sure the place is fit for a girl too. Bill is taking down the plane posters and we're going out together to pick up some nice things for the wall. :) Plus a nice dovet cover, maybe cushions etc.

hey to all of you making the jump...just wanted to say good luck and enjoy it! It all goes so fast and then its like "woah, I live here". At first it took me quite the adjustment - I had been visiting for 4 years before moving so knew my new area and the people well but its not the same as living there. But then I got my GC and my EAD and life went to normal and since then its great! Now I have had one visit home and it was strange to think of going back home was to be leaving uk and going back to US!

Funny you should mention a duvet cover. About a year ago Pat bought a new bedroom suite for herself (back before I turned our world on it's ear by proposing). The furniture all came from a store there known for it's customer service reputation, but for the sake of this story shall go nameless except for it's initials of M&S.

To make a long story short, everything was fine except for a wardrobe which was damaged in some way each of the 5 times it was delivered. After a year, she sent the whole suite back, got a refund and eventually worked some compensation out for her time off from work etc, for each of the 5 deliveries. Of course the compensation came in the form of store credit. Looks like we'll be using it to buy bedding for our home here.
