Already had that problem with an HP notebook, BIOS is stored in flashram, can be corrupted by a worm or a virus, since the BIOS can be upgraded, changed is the key word, a worm can be written to do the same thing. It takes a second computer to download the BIOS program and has to be reloaded.

Everything works fine one day and goes to pot the next, car runs great one second, timing belt breaks, and in an interference engine, crashes the pistons into the valves for really a major repair bill, computers crash as well.

Wife, step son and daughter are always having problems, but they play around with all those stupid sites, like myspace, and not a single anti-virus program available that can eliminate or find 100% of the culprits. Have a 16 year old computer, my business computer that never crashed, but it has never been on the web. Stay off the web.
