How many threads do you enter without contributing anything except your disagreement?

How many times has she entered a thread, expressed her disagreement, and actually been wrong?

I would hazard a guess, less than 20% of the time. She's not infallible but she knows a lot more than most on this site.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I don't think there's a single moderator here who doesn't care. I just think there needs to be some stronger leadership.

Well said Mox, and I'll add to that...there needs to be a rotation of leadership...or else it becomes dictatorship.

I understand that Capt. Ewok is the owner of this site (and I'm fine with the owner doing whatever he wants, including kicking me off this site),

but I'd highly suggest a rotation of moderator duties.

There are some people here that believe SOME of the moderators may have been around long enough to

have made alliances with some of the older contributors, and such alliances could unconsciously cloud their judgement.

Plus, everyone needs a vacation once in a while.

We try to bring in a diverse set of moderators however I do in principle understand your point. There is a core set of values that a moderator should have (honesty, fairness, etc) but no one is perfect. We try to avoid conflicts of interest. I will also be appointing at least one more global mod from a different background in the next few weeks. This is something that the mods and I have already talked about over the holidays.

Also to the comment about housecleaning around VJ. Yes indeed I have made quite a few updates and additions on the site outside the forums in the past few weeks based directly on feedback from members in the thread in the polls section. People gave GREAT feedback and it let me quickly identify the areas of the site that needed updating the most. If you look close I have to tried to address every single request the best I could with feedback once I completed work on their idea. I would love additional feedback so please feel free to post it in that location so I can track it! One item that I am working on in the next few days is to update the DOS Example forms. All the USCIS Example forms were updated this week but I did not have time to do the DOS ones.

I am an Ewok. I am here to to keep the peace. Please contact me if you have a problem with the site or a complaint regarding a violation of the Terms of Service. For the fastest response please use the 'Contact Us' page to contact me.

Wow.

That's paranoid.

I'm just curious Rebeccajo....how many threads do you kill per month? How many threads do you enter without contributing anything except your disagreement? How many threads do you enter into, and have your buddies come to back you up?

How many threads do you enter where YOU violate the TOS, but YOU don't suffer?

How many people have you accused of attacking you because you don't agree with them?

How many well intentioned threads per month are closed because you came in and created a mess?

I'm just curous...do you keep count?

I'm not the one with my finger on the Report button all the time, LL. And I don't accuse people of attacking me because they disagree with me. I love a good discussion. Some people can't take it, though, you know. Grown up discourse is a rare commodity these days.

When I violate the TOS, I get a suspension or a warning, just like anybody else.

For your edification Ling Ling, all Moderators apply the TOS rules to every post/thread equally, irrespective of the poster. Integrity does apply here.

You gonna make a judgment call on where the rowdies are and where they aren't?

Well I'm not a mod, so I only get to make judgments, not calls. :)

What I mean is, there are some key forums where the rowdiness happens, and there are some forums where you're lucky to see a single post a day. Bringing a mod on who's job it is to play "Barney Fife" doesn't make sense. Bringing on a mod to help already-overworked mods take care of high traffic areas makes a lot of sense.

But hey, whatever works is fine by me. I'm easy like Sunday morning.

Thanks for your response. You're absolutely correct that nobody is perfect, and I'm not questioning anyone's integrity, rather pointing out that everyone is human. Again, if there's something I can do to help, just let me know. Back to my original question (the topic of this thread), now that we have an idea for a new forum, how do we go about implementation?

Thanks, AJ.

I had great teachers.

Meauxna, Yodrak, Aussiewench, MaryAndMian, just to name a few. Then some of the peers of my 'class' - LaL, TracyTN, Euro. I can't even begin to list everybody.

You yourself did a great job on the old vaccination requirements.

I know what I know because a lot of people went before me. I respect that instead of sticking my name on it and trying to pretend I 'invented' something.

Slow down. The committee hasn't approved it yet ;)

You yourself did a great job on the old vaccination requirements.

Thanks. I can't imagine doing anything of that scale today. Strangely enough, I find that I no longer care.

But you do, kudos to you.

LOL.

I'm probably out of line here, but I seriously doubt that William gives a healthy sh*t what you think when it comes to how he handles himself around here.

Or what anybody else thinks, for that matter.

Which is why they picked him......... ;)

Yeah, that didn't seam like a personal attack or a violation of the TOS...did it?

I think a good mod would care a great deal about what members think about them. It's the rare mod who is hated or thought biased that is a good mod. I'm not talking about popularity contests, I'm talking about respect.
