Nobody wants to do it, Ling Ling. Okay?

Suddenly you speak for EVERYONE?

No, Doctor 'Who', I'm just speaking for the consensus in this thread who seem to feel that monster.com already exists.

Have a look again...you'll see that there are some in this thread that realize monster.com is not the end-all-be-all of finding employment.

Some in this thread realize that if that were the case, there'd be zero unemployment "Just login to Monster, and Bob's your uncle".

Some in this thread realize that the employment obstacles and challenges for immigrants are unique.

Perhaps YOUR experience is different because the UK is an English speaking country. Whatever the reason, your experience is unique to you,

and I in no way desire to trivialize it by suggesting otherwise.

I don't even know why I'm having this dialogue with you. I'm sure entered this thread, to add your personal views on why it's a good or bad idea,

but you somehow became distracted and decided to quip in with a snipe. But maybe I just missed where you contributed anything to this discussion?

Negative reactions ALWAYS out-post positive reactions in any forum. It doesn't mean the idea doesn't have merit. It doesn't mean it DOES have merit either, but number of opposing posts means nothing.

The surest way to tell that an idea doesn't have merit (or is at least not popular) is when people stop reacting and the thread is buried in the noise.

Do I have to be 'in' the conversation from the beginning to not have an opinion? I've been reading this pretty much since you started it looks to me like most readers in the thread think it'd be an unnecessary forum. Especially since we already HAVE a forum for it.

And just so ya know, LL, immigrating is immigrating. Speaking English as a first language is a VERY marginal advantage. My husband works as a Customer Service Rep for a major cable company. A lot of people are charmed by his accent - others hang up on him or ask to speak to someone who 'speaks English'.

And I sniped at you because I think your member title is over-the-top. I don't know what you are trying to imply with it, but it makes you look silly.

:ot2: Personally I feel a forum dedicated to starting work / career again in the US would be useful. One of the things I would be 'wary' (for lack of a better word) would being 'buddied' up with someone who feels they know more than they do. I appreciate how in the current forums if someone spouts off (cause they know  ) others are able to see what is going on and help correct the mis information.

We all learn differently and obviously interact differently, so whilst this idea might not suit some it may be ideal for others.

Sounds like a personal problem that nobody can help but yourself. Perhaps you should take advice from your own member title and "get over it".

Thanks for sharing.

BINGO on the bolded. Advice/guidance over PM is a very very bad idea, and I for one have not changed my mind over my original post about the addition of more forums.

O/T I did a chuckle and double take at the member title too!

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

I earned my Get. Over. It. title by being beaten up in countless threads trying to offer advice to people.

That's how you earn your stripes on a DIY message board. By trying to help.

A lot of newer members to this board wonder where the titles come from. They don't realize we can give them to ourselves. I really think yours is misleading.

Hmmmm, my title was given to me by members as well. Those that have benefited from my passion for HELPING OTHERS, not just sniping people's ideas because I don't like their title. As for mine being misleading...perhaps it has to do with my explaining the NVC process in plain enough English, that some people have been able to reduce time at NVC from 3 to 6 months, to a single month, with a current fastest case through NVC using my guide of 13 days.

So....what would legitimize my title in your mind, so that you don't feel the need to snipe at me without warrant?

If you know what it's like being "beaten up in countless threads trying to offer advice to people" then why do you persist in doing it here?

Note, I'm not trying to earn any "stripes", just trying to help people get through the BS of immigration. Enjoy your stripes, and wear them well.

WOW, that's really quite a contrast from your ideal of earning your title and "stripes".

Kind of a "double standard"? At the end of the day, it's just pixels on the screen..."get over it".

OK...back to topic.

So Capt...how do we/you go about deciding to implement a new forum or not?

If you don't like me "broadcasting it", maybe you should start a thread about rules for user titles, but broadcasting it let's my friends here,

know that I appreciate the name they gave, and I don't think there's anything wrong with broadcasting that I help people.

umm....rebeccajo sounds like a redneck's name. Billy Bob married her.
