Probably like @ $160, and that would include all groceries, food, eating out, and the mister's cigarettes ( )

I wish we spent less...

I spend only about $200-250/wk these days. Used to spend a lot more.

Everything fresh and organic, of course.

Yeah, man!

Party chez MaWilson.

... we indulge ourselves with expensive steaks, expensive deli stuff, etc.

Oh how I wish I wasn't so poor.

shup and eat your curry. :D

While our new international restaurant has an excellent choice of food, all you can eat for $6.95 plus sales tax, why do they charge sales tax on food? Can really get creamed with drinks and the tip. Do you really have to tip for a buffet? Always criticized if I leave a measly 10% tip, so for the two of us, that should be $1.39! Hey the bill is $14.67! You mean I am expected to tip on sales tax? Just leave five bucks. But if you order watered down cokes, your bill is 6 bucks more, can I sneak in my own 25 cent can of pop? And by ordering that watered down coke, should leave a ten buck tip instead of a five. Nobody tips me is my usual response.

I did tip an auto glass repairman for doing an extremely excellent job on replacing a broken windshield at my home on my baby, guy almost had a heart attack, he was never tipped before, just said, buy your lunch on me. So why do I have to leave a big tip for a kid that only brought me a glass of water?

Can't quite convince my wife to buy frozen vegetables, like string beans, cost a buck a pound, only use the best, all cleaned and cut, and use half of the recommended time in the microwave, claim that is when you get the most nutrition, but still kill any bacteria that may be left. Over two bucks a pound in produce and have to pick one string bean at a time, most of them are already rotten or dried out. Ha, wife buys those and forgets about them and are tossed anyway, but my taste buds must be dead, I can't tell the difference. But okay to buy frozen steaks at Aldi's most of the fat is trimmed off, vacuumed sealed, and frozen. Have a inverted defrost on the micro, and grille in the oven, an easy meal to make and the steaks have been delicious. But not happy with other Aldi private brand stuff and Great Value is not great value, but maybe on just one or two items. And watch out for that giant economy size, with a mathematical brain, and in most cases, pay more per ounce than the tiny boxes.

We end up hitting all four grocery stores in town, not bad, all within a mile of each other, each has their specialty with the best quality at the lowest prices. Still adds up to about 40 bucks a week for each of us. But seems reasonable after coming back from Venezuela, just got a few things and carried out five little plastic bags, after the exchange on my CC card, that cost us 165 bucks. Eleven bucks for a medium size box of Special K, twevle bucks for a small jar of peanut butter, and three bucks for a quart of 1% milk.

Could be the reason why you don't see very many fat people in Venezuela.

It is difficult going shopping with Claudeth. I turn my back and $200 worth of stuff suddenly appears in the basket. We have had grocery bills of up to $400. I would guess we spend about $800 a month on food. That girl sure can eat

About 50 $ a week, excluding pets. We both are not big eaters.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

Ha, have to give my wife credit on this account, she gained ten pounds since we married, I never said a word, wouldn't dare. But she learned some of her nice outfits no longer fit, and already lost six of those ten pounds.

Can i just share that my biggest co-habitation adjustment since i moved my mister ashore, has been budgeting for food and having enough food in the house. i never realized how badly i ate until after he moved in, and i was forced to have real food around.

i guess in the long run it's a good thing...that i should be eating 3 square meals daily.

but really what's wrong with Lucky Charms for dinner?

We spend an average of $130-$140 each week but that also includes things like shampoo, detergent, cleaning stuff, pet food, etc. Then if we add up out eating out on the weekends the total would be about $200 per week.

After seeing how much people think is too much to spend for going out to dinner I'm curious how much people spend on groceries per week. Typically I spend about $120-150/wk for basics and then drop in a few times throughout the week spending $20-30 on fresh produce and meat. So when I heard that $30 is a lot for eating out I thought I must be nuts spending $30 on stuff for one meal I'm cooking on my own.

How much do you typically spend?

How many people are you purchasing for?

Like some of the other posters, I don't really want to figure out just how much I spend each week. I DO like looking at how much I save with my coupons though. There are weeks that I get a cart full of groceries worth $400.00 before coupons, but save nearly 50% in the end from sales and coupons. I don't buy anything that I wouldn't normally buy. Maybe I will try a different brand of something, but if we don't like it, won't buy it again. I used to use a small index card box, but have found that the lack or organization in that kept me from really using it well. I would know there was something in there, but not find it until it expired. I now have a CaseIt that I use tabs with pockets and baseball card protecters to sort out the coupons. I have a section for each of the stores that I go to and one for catch-all, use-anywhere coupons. It is not micro-organized, but I can easily see which coupons I have and when they expire. I buy 3 newspapers each week ($4.50 total) and use the coupons from there, as well as the coupons from the "blinkies" at the grocery stores. Acme is the only store near me that uses internet printed coupons, so they get a LOT of my business. There are some really great coupons out there. I print them at work to save on ink. ;) (Yes, I asked permission!) Then there are the doubles and triples on coupons.......... It is almost like a game to see just how well I can do with them.

There are also weeks that I only grab a half gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. We have a standing deep freezer and also a refrigerator in the cellar, in addition to the one in our kitchen. I keep it loaded up. I also have a large walk in pantry in the cellar that I fill with canned/jarred goods when I catch them on sale or with good coupons. Also, I watch for the best times to use coupons for other household goods. I have several bottles of the laundry detergent and fabric softener that I like to use. It won't go bad, because we sure do use it up. I also just refuse to pay full price. It is just too expensive. Same thing with paper towels and toilet paper, if I am ever down to less than 6 rolls, it's like a panic in the house. Oh, and on the rare occasion that Pampers are on sale at a decent price (about every 3 months or so), I use my coupons and buy 4 cases at once and they generally last until the next time around. Stores generally limit the number of those items you can buy though. So, it is off to Walmart with the grocery store's sales flyer for a price match!

There is NEVER a lack of food in our house. There is a lot of variety and some preprepared foods (esp for the baby - I send those Gerber Graduates with him when he goes to the babysitter). Certain things I am adamant about which brand, others I just don't care. We do a trip to Costco or Sams about every 4 months or so and fill the trunk. Frozen veggies still have a good nutritional value.

We have 2 adults, 2 kids (10yrs, almost 2yrs). I also generally cook food and take it to work to share on the weekends that I work.

TMI?

We spend about $70 a week, and I don't care about brands as much as the redhead does. We don't eat out much for several reasons: after you have worked in a restaurant, you KNOW how kitchens work :dead: and it is usually disgusting. Two, Bren has a very limited diet the poor thing. Three, we are poor. Now I will proceed to kill myself.
