My I-94 is going to expire on the 17th of jan. Is it required to have a valid I-94 before filing for AOS? What if my I-94 expires before I file my AOS? What will happen? Thanks!!

It is okay to file for AOS after your I-94 expires. Although during that time you'll be considered out of status, but once you finally send it in, then you'll have a status again. Can't remember what it's called... sorry. You're okay though! ;)

You just need to have got married while the I-94 is still valid. While it is ideal to apply for AOS before the I-94 expires it isn't necessary. As mentioned above you will be out of status until you do file so you don't want to delay longer than necessary. Once you file your status will become "AOS applicant" and you will be legally in the US until they make a decision on your application.

i really hope you check and get this. i see you gave information on 1-94. i was an f-1 student when i got married, but i'm just now filing papework and i'm no longer a student. on the i-485 it asks for my current status....what do i put since i'm no longer a student?
