sorry for the multiple replies- my button was stuck

 We know you just want more blue dots under your name. :P

LOL!! i needed that laugh. Thanks! this waiting is sooooooo damn hard! i knew this going into it, but that doesnt make it any easier. Its the uncertainty and not knowing plus the helplessness, having no control over what happens to you [ almost like being in the military-ha! ] im here waiting, she's there waiting- waiting for someone in Vermont to decide what happens to us. i dont know if Vermont can deny our case, but they can make us wait. The embassy in her country CAN deny the case though. it really is so frustrating. i just want it to be done- one way or the other i plan to be with her-here or there..i just want the waiting to be over. Everyday apart is precious time wasted. im sure you all feel the same about that statement. By the way- just want to say i really appreciate everyone in our little group of Jan 09 posters. your advice, comments, stories, etc. really help me thru this process. If you want a break and a little entertainment, go check out the thread about this french guy[ skidoo ] that wants to stay in the US. its on the home page titled " very original situation". its a long post, so be ready but i got a good laugh from the back and forth responses to his post. it took my mind off my waiting for awhile anyway.

 here's to all of us getting our DAMN NOA2's by the end of May!

Take care all

T

I've never posted yet, but I wanted to tell you compatriots-in-waiting that I appreciate your good humor and encouragement. Some day this will be behind us and the K-1 will just be a bad memory!

Question- i want you guys opinion on this. I was saving this as my ace card, my last resort- what do you think about calling your senator or congressman to see if they can push your case thru faster? i was saving this for AFTER the 6 months have gone by without any action [ no NOA2 ] thing is, i dont want to use that card yet becuz what if the case is doing fine, going the course and the call gets it pulled and then if it doesnt get pushed thru, it adds time to the waiting. Thats why i figure i'd wait til teh 6 months is up before that phone call...but what do you think?

I read some of the very original situation post.

As far as contacting a representative, I personally choose to wait until the 6 months go by. If I didn't know about this website, and went by what the USCIS website says, I wouldn't think anything was abnormal about not getting approved yet.

There are 3 of us with very close NOA1 dates from December. We think our petitions are in the same, misplaced, box. Each of us has taken a different route, and I hope one leads to them finding our box.

One person called her senator.

One person scheduled an infopass appt AND called VSC.

I updated my address in a very minor way.

None of us have received a touch yet, but I think that if one gets approved, the rest will get approved.

Nobody got nothing?

Wow, what are they doing? Does anyone know if the reason they slowed down was due to those HB visa's? If so, when is the deadline for those so they will get back to our petitions?

I did some research on how long the H1B visa apps take to process and found this answer from a non-authoritative source:

Q. How long does the process take? A. On average 2-3 months in total.

So that would mean until early June - early July. By then the gov should be done processing the majority of them.

Patience is definitely the order of the day........I have been watching and waiting until our petition was in the window of approval opportunity and now that it has 114 days and counting, it is hard to eat, sleep and sometimes even breathe....

And a group of filers at the end of January pushed thru early and a pack of us seems to be left in the wake....... gotta figure any day now.....Hoping 4 months, VSC goal 5 months, USCIS target is still 6 months.....

I have been through so much in my life that this should be no big deal, but then again thinking about how long I waited to find my fiancee, this is a VERY BIG DEAL.....every moment without her feels like a complete waste......

It is hard not to check our case online status several times during the day.........never wanted a TOUCH so bad

i dont know if i should be grateful i had the RFE request or not! i mean i feel becuz i got it, at least someone is looking at and doing something with our case- in other words "i was touched". on the other hand, i read somewhere that having to do an RFE adds an extra 25 days of waiting! *^%$#@#**!! im actually at 4 months now. if i dont hear something, anything by mid june, im calling my senator. screw waiting the whole six months before calling! this is ridiculous!!! im trying to be patient, but come on. even if they emailed out automated emails, just giving a short update, that would pacify most of us. not knowing whats going on, if it will be approved and when is whats so frustrating! the though of having to wait til August or longer before i hear anything , makes me :bonk: and i know there are folks out there that have waited longer and are still waiting. my heart goes out to them. But there are also people that filed the same time i did or even after and they slid thru like they were greased up- already got the NOA2 and are moving to the next phase. it would help tremendously if i knew the process, do they go in a certain order or random, by date, etc

I called my Congressional aide on 5/13. He called VSC and called me back within 3 minutes. He informed me that my application had just been approved that day (5/13). So far, I have not received any confirmation of this. No email, no change on website, no snail mail. I am going to wait until 5/20 and call him again just to follow up. I surely hope he was right.

Wow! That was definitely a fast response. I think you're doing good to give it a few days to get to you.

When I spoke to someone yesterday from the customer service line, one thing she said that was interesting was that they issue out decisions twice/week. I think she meant via regular mail, as I know people get email notifications all the time.

Can you tell me what a "congressional aid" is? As far as I can tell, you can the office either of your senator or representative, and for them to help you, you have to fill out a consent form. Is there some way around this?

I also wonder if the customer service actually knows the status of anyone's case. Consider this: When you get to an operator, they ask you the same scripted questions. Then they check your case, and as far as I know, spew back whatever is on the on line system (which often is $%$#*** from what I am told). As for us, we aren't in the on line system, so we get transferred the next level of customer service. They seem to have access to more stuff about the case (birthdays, addresses, etc). But I don't know, can they even see the real status of the case?

Basically, can you believe anyone? :)

I called my Congressman's office when I first began (January 13). I spoke with an aide in his office who deals with immigration issues. He told me that it would be a while and that I needed to be patient. He asked that I send my information to him, and he would help when he could.

After seeing all the applicants from the last week in January receiving their approvals, I thought that a call to him might be in order. I waited until it was exactly 4 months from my NOA1 and called. You know the rest....
