My wife has an Interview coming up for AOS(I-797C) on the 16th of January 2009.

Im trying to make sure I have everything in order before hand.

My question is in regards to the I-693 and the I-693 supplement.

My wife had her Physical and exam in Thailand on 12/21/2007. She also got her Vaccination Documentation worksheets around the same time.

When we entered the US in March of 2008 after her interview at the embassy took place.

Before filing for her I-485, I took the vaccination Documentation Worksheets to a CIVIL SURGEON in Colorado Springs who completed the I-693 Immunization supplement documentation for her and then sealed in an envelope. This envelope was included with my I-485. The Civil Surgeion did not do an actual exam on my wife. They simple took what was on her Vaccination Documentation worksheets from Thailand, put them on the official supplement, signed it and sealed it. I never got an RFE for this meaning I took it that was correct in what was suppose to happen.

Im confused as to if she needs to have another FULL exam since technically, since the time she had the exam, and the time of her interview...it has been a year.

The part that is sketchy to me is that from the time she had the exam, and the time we filed her I-485, it was not 1 year. (They received I-485 on June 22nd, 2008

I read the following, and that added to the confusion:

"# Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon."

That says 'filed' which would mean she would be ok and didn't need another exam since that would have been done within a year of her filing the I-485.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Is the 1 year meant to be from time of Exam in home country to time of interview?

Or from time of exam in home country until time of filing and receiving notice they received I-485?

Id hate to get up to the interview and have them tell me that we were a month off on the dates and she has to do it again.

And Id also hate to spend another 500 dollars we dont need to spend for something that was already done.

Im sure this has been ask before and for that I apologize. I looked but could not find a definite answer. Im freaking out worrying if I need to try to schedule another exam in the next 10 days or not.

Any help would be appreciated!

8. Fiancé(e)s.

If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment-of-status application.

So reading that, I take it that means within a year of the FILE of the I-485?

And if so, she already got the medical exam in Thailand... then the Supplement in June 2008.

So Im thinking she will be fine and doesnt need another exam before the interview.

If so, that is wonderful! Im hoping that is correct.

You don't need another exam. If she had the medical in Dec 2007 and you filed AOS in Jun 2008, that was only 7 months. You are good to go, no need wasting more money on an exam.

Btw, an exam alone shouldn't cost anywhere near $500. It should be around $200-250 at most, since all her vaccines should be up to date.

Hi

My case is different to your wife but I did my medical to AOS in 2006 and had my interview in May 2006 and at the time of interview I was approved but pending due to FBI NameCheck. I had been previously told from USCIS that since my medical was in 2006 if I had to wait past a year I would have to redo my medical. Jan 30 2008 was approved without having to do another medical. I hope this helps you out. BTW I am in Pueblo so Howdy Neighbour.
