Welcome to VJ! Congratulations on your engagement! I just got engaged last month it is quite an exciting time, even though I knew it was coming.So far the most annoying question :angry: has been "When's the date"? I am sick of explaining myself!! Even if the answer is short!! I am not setting a date until I am approved!! Anyways, welcome to VJ and good luck on your journey!!

Thanks everyone! You seem like a great bunch.

So do I have to take a pic of myself with my leafs jersey on to wave the fee?? :P

I am from Sudbury Ontario (If you don't know where that is, find Toronto on a map and draw a line north). My Fiance is from Lancaster PA.

And yes, the most annoying question is "When's the date!!?!?!" and I think my mom asks me that everyday, last night I finally explained to her that I'm not setting one till I'm approved.

We're just gathering all the info we need to send in for the first step right now. Hopefully I can go get all the pics and requirements done before I leave to go home on Sunday :'(.

I can't move down here until January 2010, that's when my employment contract is up at my current company. So it seems like I have a bit of time to get everything done and approved. Yeah, I can break my contract but I have a great job and boss and she even said we might be able to work something out where I can work part time from down here once I'm all married n stuff.

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I'm sure you'll hear from me quite a bit over the next year :)

21 Nov 2008- Received Packet 3 from Montreal

4 Jan 2009- Mailed Packet back

9 Feb 2009- Medical in Toronto

24 Apr 2009- Interview in Montreal...Approved!!!

30 Apr 2009- Received Visa... few hours later crossed to border for the 6 day drive to Utah!!

6 Apr 2009- Arrived at our new HOME!!

13 May 2009- Welcome letter received

19 May 2009- Went to social security office and "applied" for SSN

22 May 2009- SS Card arrived in mail!! (I guess they did send in the paperwork at the interview...)

There is a unique smell in the area...

no worries.. it won't be unique for long!! tee hee.... things have a way of becoming "normal" real fast like :whistle:

Hello fellow Canadians,

My fiance and I just got engaged on December 30 and I am planning to move to the USA. I stumbled upon this website when looking for immigration information. What a wealth of information!

I look forward to starting this adventure and I'm sure I will use this website and the discussion boards quite often. Any advice is appreciated :)

Well, I'm not Canadian, but Peachey is and I love it in Canada so I'm going to say hi as well.

Hi!

Yes, there is a unique odor to Lancaster county - especially this time of year when farmers are emptying thier barns of excess "fertilizer."

I hope someday we can live up in Canada too, so we'll have to do reverse immigration. Woo.

Also - we were engaged on the 31st, hun. Love you! :whistle:

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
