I second getting drunk after getting the Visa!!! :) My wife thinks I'm not coming to India for her interview, she is in for a shock :)

Q,

So, you planning to surprise her?

Yes, that's the plan. I just need to figure out how to disappear for the 18 hours that it will take me to get to India from NY. I am also trying to time when I should get to Mumbai, because there is no point in me going to Ahmedabad, and then coming back to Mumbai. I am also trying to figure out if it will be easier for me to return out of Mumbai with her, or do I fly into Mumbai and out of Ahmedabad. Where is your wife flying out from?

That's great man! I wish you best of luck and hope everything works out according to your plan. But one thing for sure if you surprise her, there is no bigger gift then that. According to current plan my wife will be flying out from ahmedabad on april 6th and landing on US soil the same day since india is one day ahead of us. If everything goes the way we have planned my wife will be here before our 1st anniversary which will cover everything we missed for the whole year from being apart.

That's awesome!!! I'm sure everything will go through smoothly, its just a matter of time now!!! What airlines is your wife flying?

From ahmedabad to london she'll use Emirates and from london to dallas she'll be flying with American Airlines. Have you bought ticket yet?

Nope, im looking at the site you sent me. I'm seeing tickets in the 850-900 range for round trip, and about 600 for one way for my wife. I have asked her to find out when she could leave if everything goes well, so I could buy her ticket. I'm thinking it will be a week after the interview, but wanted her to confirm with her family. I will probably buy tickets by the end of the week. I am also looking at hotels in Mumbai since its going to be really hot, and I won't survive in 100+ degree weather :)

I figure it would be good surprise, and the in-laws won't be nervous especially since she hasn't travelled internationally before.

Well, the tickets are in the $900 range for a round trip, and ~$600 for a one way, so I'm going to buy my tickets hopefully by the beginning of next week.

The 850-900 range is Air India, and Etihad, Qatar

The 550-600 range for the one way, Air India, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad.

I haven't seen anything cheaper than these ranges, have been looking at Expedia at the moment.

Ya, I think this is the cheapest you can get. I myself did lots of research before I bought my wife's ticket so, this price sounds reasonable.
