Old people are funny that way. Maybe the old gal went ballistic when sonny boy tried to take her shoes off. Who knows?

Erm...when the foot has started to grow in and around the shoe, methinks it's a little more than "ma's gittin' cranky 'bout her Uggs again."

But what I do think might be a possibility is that the son, who is close to 70 himself, was simply incapable of taking care of someone at his age, for whatever reason. It may not actually be a case of neglect, just a very sad showcase of how we treat the elderly in our country.

There wasn't much to read in that story, but today we have kids having kids and sadly old people looking after old people....my immediate thought on this was how well was HE taking care of himself? My elderly parents took in my 90yr old grandfather some years ago and I was shocked when i went to visit and saw the deterioration in health of my folks both physically and mentally. The stress of caring for someone is immense and sometimes it takes someone from the outside to look in and say "ok, enough is enough"....within weeks of that visit my grandfather was placed in a home and my parents improved greatly, but pride would never have let them take that route.

Yes, the story is horrific....but a lot is missing too...who knows

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Authorities say an elderly Port St. Lucie woman was so neglected by her son that her never-removed shoes had grown into her feet.

I'm not a Doctor, don't even play one on TV, but I'm pretty sure her feet grew into her shoes. Unless her shoes are somehow sentient. :D

Mox, you rock! That was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the article, lol.

My uncle is 68. He doesn't look old. Well aside from his white hair. Heck, he can pick up a king size bed on his own. I keep on telling him, "One day, you might break a leg." He never listens.
