My spouse tried to get a PCC from Ahmedabad Passport Office, the security guard did not let them in. They said that you will need an appointment letter, my spouse showed them a copy of DS-230 cover sheet but they did not agree. I called NVC and they are saying that you will need a PCC with your DS-230. Luckily, I have my K-3 moving at the same time so when I get the appointment letter for K-3 I can get a PCC. But if had not filed for K-3 then this would have caused a problem. I don't know if anyone has faced this problem.

Hi,

My husband faced the same problem about getting the PCC from Passport Office in A'bad. That time they accepted DS-230 cover letter from him and got his PCC within one week's time. I guess they have changed it again. He mentioned, it is too hard to even get in the office area. Also, post this on South Asia forum as many Indian's visit over there more...

Best of luck in your visa journey process..

Yash_ash,

My wife had same problem, they let her in but wanted to see appointment letter so, my wife told them we can not get appointment letter until we submit all the required documents to NVC and PCC from passort office is one of the document that we have to submit. Then I called DHS @ 202-663-1225 and lady told me I can go ahead submit district police office pcc @ NVC and submit pcc from passport office at the time of interview. So, lets see what happens. You might want to confirm this with DHS.

Good luck!

I got my PCC from Delhi passport office in few hours. 12:30 i submitt it and got back around 4:30, and they asked me to submit only a photocopy of passport and original passport and of course 300 fees and ya you need to file it with Form No.2 (http://passport.gov.in/cpv/Forms.htm). There is no specific requirement from any Indian Passport office. What all they want just to make some money. you can complaint about them on the govt website www.passport.gov.in

I got my PCC from local police station within three days :

Day 1st: I went to District SP office and paid a 300 Rs. fee and got a stamp from they saying that they need verification from local police station within 5 days, it was a instruction for local police people not for me. but i didn't give it to police to do it, i took myself and went to local police station along with two witness and there attested ration card photocopy. they made there papers and asked me to come and get the signature from SHO.

Day 2nd: I got the signature from the SHO of my local police station.

Day 3rd: I got the signature of SP from District Police station.

My wife had two problems:

1) They need a interview appointment letter

2) Her passport name needs to change so her middle name is my first name.

Apparently new rules were passed in last 15 days. NVC is aware of the first rule change but not the second. I just spoke with NVC and they said you can submit just a police certificate for DS 230 and obtain the passport clearance after the interview date is set and take it with you to the appointment. Has anyone had issues with rule #2? It seems soo stupid to force her to change her name. Please help...

I am debating on whether to change my wife's name on the new passport. All the forms I filled thus far have her original name. NVC said if you change the name it shouldn't be problem. I just need to present her new passport and request for her name change to the NVC. But the final decision rests with the mumbai office and I am afraid they will cause probelm with a different name. What do you think I should do?
