they don't make music like they used to..

I disagree. It's just harder these days to find the torch bearers amongst the riff raff.

Andy Williams? That's my mom's kind of music...and I'm not exactly a spring chicken. That guy fell off the charts eons ago. Why resurect him now?

The classic crooners always attract new fans as the years pass. I'm a classic example of this: I only became a fan a couple of years ago, like I said in the first post, when we started visiting Branson. He's synonymous with the area, so I started listening to a few of his recordings and liked them. That simple really.

I've never been to Branson, but I understand now. It's kind of like Wayne Newton and Vegas. Ya gotta be there to understand.

Several years ago there was a Doors revival after the Val Kilmer movie came out and the book "No One Here Gets Out Alive" the biography of Jim Morrison.

The old TV sit-com Night Court brought on a revival of Mel Torme (with cameo appearances by Mel).

The movie The Blues Brothers revived a few oldies too as did the movie The Buddy Holly Story several years ago.

I've been a big fan of Woody Guthrie tunes for years and am surprised he hasn't had a revival with the resurgence of the New Left, unionism, and talk about comparisons of the Great Depression to today's financial woes. The 1976 movie Bound for Glory never kicked off renewed interest in Woody. Woody is ripe for a revival IMO.

As far as old crooners go, one that I didn't see mentioned in this thread was Al Martino. My mom had some of his albums when I was growing up. Perry Como comes to mind too.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
