Im in K1 visa ... and we're about to start our AOS application, my problem is ....

Identification of myself on my marriedname..... I just knew that the only identification i have with me now is my phil passport, .. i wna know is there someone in here in a K1 status as like me, could used their passport in maidenname and marriage certificate as their identification??? like in......

-bank application

-insurance

-or others .. for we could used as to apply on commingling of assets in our both names

because, i dont have ssn yet that i could only get it after i had my EAD. also, i dont driver's license yet bcos i need to learn how to drive first. and im not focused to do it now since im busy taking care of my family.

and to that matter ... was confused since my passport is in my maidenname still, can i re-apply for a new passport on my marriedname?? but theres no phil embassy here in GA i guess for me to do so, if i let someone of my family in phils do that, i need to surrender my passport but ive got there my visa and I-94, dats why im confused if its acceptable my phil passport in maidenname assured as my identification.

any info's here??? silly questions... but really need :help:

thanks so much.....

Yeah!

I went to my Biometrics appointment and THANK GOD I took my marriage certificate along with my passport. They didn't even want to look at my SS card. So you will be fine showing your passport and you marriage license for now.

As for the bank account, they asked for my passport (because of picture ID) and SS card. I don't remember showing the marriage certificate.

Good luck!

My wige will be traveling next week out of the country using her passport and Green card and marriage certificate - and yes the green card is the only id in her married name (the tickets were bought in the unmarried name - to match the passport.) So, don't worry about not having SSN or EAD etc. - you are as valid as can be without the Green card! Good Luck

For some things they'll accept your passport and marriage certificate as proof of identity - it's enough for your biometrics and so on. But you most likely won't be able to open a bank account or get a drivers licence or do things like that until you have your EAD in your married name, because the banks are very fussy.

There is no need to rush to change your passport - for travelling purposes its fine to use your maiden name and carry your marriage certificate to show that you're still you.

I just open my bank account yesterday. Yes, they are fussy about the documents, actually this is my second time go to the bank and this time they allowed me to have an account. My husband already have an account with them so that helps. All I need to show is my passport, my SSN in maiden name, my marriage certificate and my paycheck with my current address and my marriage name in it. You need a prove of residence, either it's a bill with your name and current address in it or in my case I use my paycheck.

They do want me to give them a copy of my working permit when I get it for their filling, but for now it's all set, I got a bank account though it tooks me 1 hour to do that.

Good luck!

Regarding getting your passport updated with your married name, I suggest that you take a look on the Philippine Embassy web site. Here is the link to the passport page.

There is a link on the main page for downloading the form, and it looks like you can do it all by mail. I recommend sending DHL, UPS, or Fed Ex so that you can track it.

If I was you, I would not send my passport to the Philippines to be updated.
