Surah 2 Al-Baqarah 62

Bismilah

"Verily, those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabjans, whoever believes in Allah (God) and the Last Day and does righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve."

Surah 2 Al-Baqarah 82

"and those who believe (in the oneness of Allah monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise they will dwell therein forever."

From what I gather those quotes aren't about apostasy. Those are quotes regarding people of the book who did not convert from Islam TO those religions but of people born unto those religions, no?

I have to give the guy some credit, it is hard to turn from all that you were told and your family to stand alone in your beliefs, that takes some courage. I know my family refuses to accept my beliefs, but to really stand up and walk away from all I know is hard, not sure if I would have that kind of courage. I just wish for peace for the world, maybe it might take some evil aliens to make us see that we are all humans and we have way more in common than uncommon. I think people should just be allowed to believe what they want, as long as it doesn't lead to wars, death and sorrow for anyone. I really have no problem with any religion, it it helps you get by in this life better, than go for it, I only wish I had that kind of faith. I actually wish I could just believe in any God, and feel that someone, anyone cared that I felt bad and comfort me, for some reason I have never had that ability, I am always wondering and this questioning can screw up the faith stuff.

I was Christian and converted to Islam.... I have found many born muslims don't know their own religion and rely heavily on what their families say.... I didn't read the whole interview but did he study Islam with the same open heart he did Christiananity and ask the same questions??? who knows but in Islam we believe he will still go to heaven either way. I am happy he can find something that works for him :)

That's not unusual. People who convert from one religion to another are usually more knowledgeable about it. They had to go through the process to become another religion, which sometimes can be lengthy and difficult. Those who were born into a religion generally take the ideas and history of their religion for granted and rely heavily on familial hearsay.

It was a nice post.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
