There is nothing IMBRA 2005 states that is worth reading or replying.

IMBRA2005 believes the "if we can save at least one..." b.s. well...all can be saved by shutting the whole immigration thing down in the US and lots and lots of people will be saved. sheeesh. Stupid do-gooders.

IMBRA2005 quit trying to be the sugar to make this bitter IMBRA stuff go down easier. IMBRA sux! Plain and Simple. It is ridiculous and epitomizes the brainless who typically hold their 19th Century noses up at the commoners by doing them some good.

These people always thinking about laws and laws. VAWA should be named the Retarded Woman's Act (RWA) *laugh* As a group of 80 - 90 year-old ladies playing cards told me - who are these stupid females getting themselves into such situations and not walking or running away? They have no excuse if they can walk or crawl - what they are invalids? *laugh*

They said the people in the capital of Germany made many laws that were Good For The People; eventually everyone did not want to be good anymore. The ladies laughed and went back to playing cards.

Then a couple of them started to think and talk about a way to bring my love to me - around the US checkpoints...er...passport control *laugh* They had to do that back then, too. Little old ladies. IMBRA gonna stop [fill in whatever perceived method here] to [whatever feared results here]. Unlikely. The old ladies are already thinking of ways around IMBRA. *laugh* Such a nice Sunday afternoon.

Sounds as though you need to stick with 90 year old women, considering at that age the hearing and eye sight aint what they used to be at least then they don't have to hear or see your lack of intelligence. At that age she wouldn't have to stick around very long either. *laugh* Better still get you one of those foreign women, or a retarded one or hey add all of the above together and get yourself a foreign 90 year old retarded woman. With a perfect bride like that how could you ever go or be WRONG?*laugh*

You have failed to make one decent point throughout this thread to explain why your panties are in such a wad. Oh wait you have proven to me why a law like this is necessary! Sheesh.

If you can only speak in a condescending tone then don't address me. You have clearly missed the point.

Yay! I've been shunned AND told that I'm missing the point of my own posts!

OMG seriously. You missed the point of it all I guess. You did not miss the point of your own post, your post missed the point if IMBRA. Is this really that hard to get?

Should I mention for the third time that I know what IMBRA is about? How many times do I have to state that I know what IMBRA is about (4)? I was addressing A COMMENT by another member about ONE SIDE BENEFIT of IMBRA, not IMBRA itself.

I did not miss the point of IMBRA. IMBRA missed the point by "protecting" foreign people from us horrible American men, while there is no law in the states requiring the same pre-emptive information disclosure to American men/women. Nor is there any part of the law that requires information from the foreign person BEFORE the relationship has begun, as is required of the USC.

IMBRA releases criminal history and such to marriage brokers. Marriage brokers will have to release this information to the foreign person who will then decide whether or not to proceed. The foreign person is now able to stop the relationship early on (before becoming emotionally attached) if there's something they don't like in the history. Ok, got that?

The USC has NO such law protecting him/her AT THIS POINT of the relationship. He/She will not find out about the foreign persons' criminal history until after the relationship has progressed to the point of engagement and a Visa has been applied for. By then, he/she is emotionally attached. Comprende?

Then I threw in that to be completely fair, this info should be available to US citizens before dating other US citizens, too. Since it's all about preventing abuse, right?

THAT is what my post was about.

*sigh*

All this because someone addressed the "emotional attachment" issue and I had to reply to it.....

I do not see this law saving any lives, except at the time of the K1 application. I have read both sides here, as there are several well informed posters with well thought posistions.

Something that stands out to me is the 'pro-IMBRA' side is saying "this doesn't take away your right to marry or talk to who you want". Which is true. Good point. But then... what does this law do? What changes? I have to say Why....?

Again I have to add this disclaimer, the police check at the time of the K1 makes sense to me and has potential to save someone from abuse. The other stuff they attached shows me how uniformed our lawmakers can be. They latched onto IMB's because that is supposudly how some criminals who had high profile abuse cases of foreign wives (in the media) managed to decieve their spouses.

I have no conection to any IMB's, nor do I really care for their practices, they make lots of money to do practically nothing. I just don't see how eliminating them solves anything. And besides this will not eliminate them, they will just change their business practice so they are not directly selling contanct information.

If you want to latch on to an industry to attack that abuses millions of people with con-artist like tactics, go after the American Insurance Industry !!:thumbs:

Aye. Now THAT I can agree with. LOL

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
