I am just following the example posted in thsi web site to fill out I-134. Is that good enuf.

Fortunately, Reg. support, my wages are well over the poverty line. Do I need to show that I own a house and my bank balance etc... or just finish it off by just showing wages and bank balance? Dont want to generate too much of paper work and proof etc...

Please advise.

Girish

Personally I would follow the forms and instructions given on the USCIS site, since they issue them.

As explained in another thread....

The USCIS webpage for that form indicates it is still needed:

QUOTE

To file this form, it needs to be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer at any USCIS Office, by a notary public, or other official authorized to administer oaths for general purposes. If the sponsor is outside the United States, the affidavit must be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer or Consular Officer at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Once the form is affirmed, it should be mailed to the same USCIS office where the application was filed.

However the form instructions (as you said) very clearly say that the form does not need to be signed in front of a public notary (because it is signed "under penalty of perjury of US law").

Interesting conflict!! Since the USCIS conflicts itself and the USCIS says to ALWAYS refer to the Form download page (instead of the Form instructions) in the case of a conflict in information, we will continue to list it as required. Hopefully they can clear this up. I will contact them regarding this.

The rules have most likely changed and I'm not sure i'd even take the time if we were starting over *shudder* , but given the fact that you can easily have it notarized for no charge and because of the statement above I don't see the harm in having it notarizied until we have a definitive answer from USCIS.

p.s. moving this to K-1 General Discussion (even tho it really belongs in the Embassy forum). My assumption is that not enough K-1's will see the topic if it's not here.
