Many posts mention financial reasons as being a large part of the reason to be going through our immigration journey, but where would you prefer to be?

What are other reasons for being in the US (besides love)

After three years, I can honestly say I would prefer to have lived over there.

That has nothing to do with our marriage. It just has to do with lifestyles over there.

We are going back for a visit in March. So we will see how I feel after I've experienced more of the typical wet Irish weather.

I would definitely rather live in Canada because of family and friends and medical insurance.

We plan to move back to Canada after my husband retires, but whether that actually happens after we look into the Canadian immigration process, remains to be seen.

I miss my 2 sons who live in Canada and my many many friends too. I really only have one or two friends here in the U.S. and I've lived here since 2004.

I would love to live in Nicaragua... the way/pace of life, the weather, all preferred to the US.

However, there are absolutely no jobs, and what there are wouldn't be able to finance any kind of trips back to the US to visit family.

So my 1 and 2 for why, for now, we are choosing the US:

1. finances

2. family (mine. I'm selfish)

We would both prefer to live in the UK/Europe, there are advantages to being here but really what we miss the most is the lifestyle we had there.

We will probably see the year out and move back if we feel the same way, we are already looking into it.

I'm back in my husband's country for a visit. I could live here again, if the situation required, whatever. I never missed the US while I was gone. Family wasn't a deciding factor. There were just certain, mostly financial, factors that made the US more appropriate to our lives and that was why I decided to go back. Right now, it doesn't appear reasonable to return to Germany in the near future, but that may change later.

The UK, even with it's faults, it's still my home. However I have never actually stayed in the US longer than three weeks, so we'll see when I actually do move there.

At this point in life, it is far better for us to be in the US. My kids are still at home and I wouldn't want to take them away from their father, nor do I want to deal with a court battle if I tried. But I love Germany and always have. I have more than just my husband's family there, so it's not as though I'd be sacrificing a great deal to move there, whereas he had only me here. Luckily he works for a company with a branch in Germany, and branches in other European companies, so moving back to Europe is a possibility in the future.

Like many have said, the lifestyle there is, IMO, more suited to us.

USC here

I love india but for Vacation only, so much Bureaucracy for everything. One of my friend dad from San Diego even said once, to live in India, you need to have a good Politician, The chief Police, a Good Advocate(LAWYER in your pocket, then you don't have to worry about anything. Plus as a foreigner you face a lot of difficulties being in India, everybody think you are rich and overcharge you for everything, you take an autorickshaw you give him 100rupee bill for a 30rupees ride, he gives you back 20 rupees and keep looking back at yah as if you are not aware of it, until you say HEEEEYY I gave you 100. then he pull back the other 50.

Same thing happened to me several times, even at a grocery stand, bought a 7up for 25rupees the guy give me back 25 and keep staring until I ask him where the rest?

You go to visit a Museum you get charge 10X more than the local, simple example, MYSORE PALACE 20 rupees for Indian, 200Rupees for foreigner.

The Traffic is madness, but fun at the same time, it's so intereting in all that madness, I didn't noticed any ROADRAGE, it's like there's some kind of order in the mist of that DISORDER very hard to explain until you experience it yours, If I go out with my wife, once they see me the price double, you try to take a rickshaw once they see me, they are asking for no meter fixed price, which is higher than what the meter rate would be.

It got to the point, where I stay behind and let my wife to hail the auto once she gets it then i come foward.

Over the years working there and been there several times, specially when I go shopping if I see something I like in a store, I point it to a friend very discretly then go out, later on let them go an purchase it.

Book an hotel room, get a local to do it, otherwise you are charge a higher rate as a foreigner.

So many reason it would be difficult to live there.

The plus side, lot of stuff, the cost of living is cheaper there but that's changing really quick, most of the middle class there can afford a maid servant to take care of the cooking, house cleaning and so on. There are a few items that's still quite expensive A roll of toilet paper (4pieces) you pay $1 here in a dollar store, the same thing you will pay $5 for it so it will add up since I am not used to the indian toilet washing style. Gas is expensive it's by the liter not Gallon, at 49rupees a litter that's over $5 a gallon(4 liters=1gallon), Olive oil.

Our case may be seen as a very odd one. As a matter of fact, in my home country of Italy I had a home (property shared with my brother) and a steady gov't job - still, I decided to leave everything in order to come here, at the age of 47. Unfortunately, the situation in Italy is not quite the same as in other European countries, even if I know I was one of the privileged people in so many ways. I won't go into detail, but suffice it to say that every time I told someone I was moving to the US, they answered, "lucky you! I wish I could do the same".

Now, I am old enough to realise that many things in this world are relative, and that Italy is much better than many other places in the world.... However, my main reason for leaving was to start a really new chapter of my life together with the man I love. Italy hurt and disappointed me far too often in the past, and I needed to leave everything behind and be free of negative memories. Moreover, my husband has three children from a previous marriage to whom he must pay child support, and in the current climate he would have had serious trouble in finding a job in Italy (especially not knowing the language).
