"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

If it isn't religion than what is the problem with everybody getting along, religion is always in the heart of all these conflicts. Why else do they fight over a piece of land that isn't the best in the world? It all boils down to God said it is mine, and God told the others that it was their promise land. Believe me it is deep religious beliefs that make these kind of things happen. The Israel’s think they have claim as well as the Muslims, it is all about religion and superstitions that we have these horrific conflicts, why else would someone blow themselves up if they didn't think they were doing God's will. If you thought that your life is short and this is all you got, I highly doubt you would go and blow yourself up just to make a point. Just like the war the Christians always pulled on the lands they wanted to make more God like. If you really think religion doesn't have anything to do with this, than you need to really study history more. Slavery in early America, the rulers stated that the Bible said it was A ok to enslave people and work them like animals, disgusting, we need to wake up and learn that this is it folks there are no virgins or gold line streets in the after life. The late John Lennon said it best;

john_lennon_3.jpg

Imagine if people would see the world as it really is rather than the way they want it to be. Then they wouldn't be so disappointed and judgemental.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Those things she said were disgusting and I am saddened that protesters can't be more dignified. I would like, however to have seen what the other side was saying, not that it excuses her behavior but obviously this was a one sided video.

There wasn't just one stupid animal shouting her mouth off. There were a number of protestors shouting and jeering. I don't need to hear what people on the other side of the street were saying to know the protestors we witnessed on the video are a bunch of monsters that need to be removed from society. I only hope that those protestors are recognized so they can be persecuted.

I believe I stated above that whatever the other side said would not have excused her behavior. These aren't animals, btw, they are human beings that bleed blood and everything! Each side is made up of human beings and if we could view everyone involved as such maybe we wouldn't be able to carry on with life as normal with the thought of so much destruction going on in front of our very eyes.

I like to believe that humans are sensitive, kind, tolerant individuals. Clearly the woman you mention on this video was none of those things. I was wrong to say she was an animal however, she is in fact a monster.

"Monsters"? "Animals"? This is inflammatory talk which I believe is uncalled for. You and I have no idea what may have happened in this woman's life. As an illustration; what if she were a loving daughter from an apolitical family that was living in Gaza who were the innocent victims of the bombing. What if those bombs killed her mother and father, or her grandparents, or her brothers and sisters? What if all of them were blown into unrecognizable shreds? If this were the case, would you still say the same thing about her that you are saying now? How would you feel if the same thing happened to your loved ones? Is it possible that you might not hold back your angry words?

My husband and I just finished watching "Flight 93" which brought up some very raw emotions for me. This was our country, our people, our friends and family that was being attacked. I cried, I cried hard. And my husband who is an Arab Christian held me and said, Love your enemies anyways and pray for them.

Isnt that what we should be doing, is showing our enemies love and not hate? So whatever that woman has gone through in life, the worlds fullness of people has went thru the same things, it doesnt warrant hate and cursing and posters of nuking countries. No enemy will be won over with hate unless you plan on being their enemy forever, but they will be won by love and true peace... .

Neither do I? I agree with you that I have no idea what may have happened in that woman's life. As a matter of fact, that is exactly what I already said. You may want to read again what you quoted. I said, "You and I have no idea..." (as in "we"...as in "us"...as in "you and me"...as in "all of us"...as in "you too").

I'm not sure why you think I am apologizing for her. It is not apparent to me that I did any such thing. I was trying to keep this issue in perspective by pointing out that there may some value in walking a mile in someone else's shoes. Do you have a problem with that?

Angry words? you call "get back in the oven" angry words? As Mawilson pointed out, you have no idea what went on in this woman's life so to make up a story of a terrible scenario that might have been is just pointless. What if this woman was raised in a household filled with hate, violence, and the teaching of destruction of others? What if this woman simply likes rallies and decided to shout shite to get attention? What if this woman is simply a nasty piece of ####### who delights in the misery of others? We could carry on with this all night but the bottom line is she is a monster.

So tell me, if this woman's family members were the victims of war, do you think her comments and the comments of the other protestors would then be acceptable?

Typically, the folks who will take time away from their lives to stand in the street and demonstrate, come from one of a couple of groups.

1. The truly passionate. The ones that believe in the cause enough to show their support.

2. The truly fanatic. The ones that believe in the cause, and pretty much nothing else.

3. The truly crazy. Some of the crazies fit into the fanatic...but there are just some people that will demonstrate because they're crazy.

4. The fame seeker. The people that hope to get caught on video and have their 15 minutes of fame.

5. The instigator. Sometimes a member of the fanatics...but sometimes just an evil person that wants to be the catalyst of violence.

6. The passerby. This person is just as dangerous...they get caught in the frenzy of the moment and are capable of doing or saying anything.

If you watch the video again, you'll easily be able to identify which group the protesters come from.

My point being, the truly passionate are typically the minority of the demonstration group, and the group in its entirety usually is not a good representative of the cause.

I really don't know that either side is right, but I feel sorry for both.

There comes a point where you have to inflict Bill Cosby parenting logic (paraphrasing).

"I don't care about who took what from whom, or if the little child is picking on the big child. All I care about is peace and quiet".

How about we blow-up that piece of land, then there's nothing to fight about.

The fact that we don't know what went on in that woman's life is exactly the point. If we don't know, then it could very well be that the example I used is what happened. What if that is what happened to her? Are there any circumstances that you could imagine yourself in which would make you extremely angry?

As for her comments being acceptable if her family was a victim of war...I don't know what you mean by acceptable. Her comments are not illegal. I am simply trying to put a serious issue into context. If my family was killed, I know that I would be angry. Angry enough to say things as inflammatory as she said. I don't know. I hope I never have to experience what both sides are going through.

By your standards, the examples I gave are equally as likely which would make her even more dispicable than she already is. I am astounded that you are defending this woman's comments as "not illegal". What are we supposing the person or persons she was shouting "get back in the oven" to had done to her? Are these the murderers of her family? What about the other protestors and their chants? Have all their families been murdered by the people across the street also and that is why they are so hateful? Could it be that these low lifes are simply scum? I think so.
