However, when I was on ThaiAirways the other day, a group of muslim stood up and prayed towards the side of the rising sun. It freak me out a bit. But, I was also thinking that maybe it's their practice to pray towards the sun in the morning. I wasn't alarmed enough to indicate to the flight attendant.

It would freak me out too. Because Muslims pray towards Mecca (Kaaba to be precise).

I guess it is discrimination until the plane goes down in a ball of flames.

Why would that happen?

Because someone said they could see the engines from their window?

What if it would have and they did nothing. Better safe than sorry. As far as not refunding for the seat is bs though.

If there was a misunderstanding, should have been cleared up, and why all nine passengers if only one made any kind of remark. Something is missing in this story, typical of the news today, only give have the story, ha, miss Paul Harvey when he gave the other half. Has to be a valid reason why they didn't let those nine passengers reboard, they are in a very good position for a stiff lawsuit.

That's what I hope - that somebody actually mention bomb or anything like that. But if the remarks were purely about his seat being next to engine and they were taken out of the plane, that would be ignorance at its best.

Apparently they were talking about the safest place in an aircraft in terms of surviving a crash ie, in the front or in the rear. As a muslim terrorist doesn't really care about their own survival, that on its own indicates these people were not terrorists - terrorists generally don't draw attention to themselves as that would generally lead to failure. You should be more worried about someone who remains calm, quiet and minds their own business if you really want to look for suspects.

So, yes, it's some form of discrimination mixed with fear induced stupidity from the airline.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Thai Airport security is tougher than the US. Every international flight, you must have your bagged open for screening. This happens 100%. At checkin, your bagged is underneath the X-ray. At boarding, you must open up your bags. Double measures.

Muslims don't pray to the rising sun. They pray at specific times of the day, 5 to be exact, and they face Mecca. Why would people praying freak you out? Did they otherwise reflect an intent to do harm?

If that's right that sounds pretty dodgy.

"the jets are next to my window" is a suspicious remark? Wow...

I guess I should have been removed from my flight the other day for commenting that my view was ####### because I was seated over the wing and engines.

Sounds like ethnic discrimination

I always requested window seat during long flights and sometimes got seat right above wing/engine. And I know more than 1 occasion that I said out loud to my husband that it defeats the purpose of window seat if I got the view of the wing on 15 hr flight. I never got removed from the plane.

Yes, because when you sit next to window, you can climb out of the window during flight and put explosive on the engine.

Racial profiling - statistically correct but wrong wrong wrong!

Of course its Stupidity. They cd have screened, questioned and left. Whats more bad is they were removed and they have to pay again for a new flight . I am not a muslim but this is very wrong. The F. Officers cant do whatever they want. This is ignorance and castism. And why wd someone freak if someone else is practising their own religious way to pray to God. People can pray their own way without disturbing others. Very Bad news .....obviously a black name on the reputation of that airlines.

It's a natural human reaction. Just like you freaking out when someone eat a big live worm in front of your face.

You're equating my prostrating to God, the one who like, made me, to someone eating a big live worm in front of my face? Either you just said something totally ridiculous or this Dayquil I'm on is super strong.

I'm not equating it to what you want to call. I'm telling you that it's natural to be freak out at something you're unfamiliar with. I'm guessing you cannot make a logical rational about human behavior. Being freak out doesn't mean it's prejudicial, and related to God.

Well when you put it that way I can understand the somewhat shock. You really have never seen a muslim pray before? I guess I have a different perspective because I live in a pretty diverse area.

Attention everybody: If you are in a plane; keep your mouth shut, don't breath, don't move, heck, don't blink or you'll be removed from your flight.

I'm not Muslim and to be honest, I try to be as invisible as possible at an airport and on the plane.
