I recommend you pick up a copy of Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It explains the Fertility Awareness Method in great detail, and has changed the lives of many couples.

I agree  Also, come join us here, it is a very supportive community:

You can add me to your list, Kate. We are married 17 months now - living in the same house for 7 months and nothing yet. Meanwhile everyone around me is having babies; even my two really "old" sisters in law got pregnant out of the blue - they have teenage kids. So it's just life and we have to happy for others and carry on with our own lives and wishes.

If you ever get super stressed and need to talk with other ladies TTC, you can visit us at

http://www.healthboards.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=150. There are lots of other groups out there if you don't like this one.

I have the book Jelti recommended and it's quite good. So you may want to take a look.

Hang in there! I know how you feel. Take Care. (F)

We've stopped timing sex now and just do it whenever, I've stopped putting pillows under my hips afterwards and I try to tell myself that we're not really trying anymore, just letting nature take its course, but I can't help but get anxious and shaky the week before my period is due. It still goes through my mind, "maybe this time"......you know?

 I think this is a good route for you to take. My hubby and I trying to just calm DOWN. LOL

But, like you, every month I wonder "is this it?" Then that red witch shows up. :P

Have you tried PreSeed? I'm on a pregnancy forum and TONS of women swear by it. Literally they start using it and one or two months later they're pregnant. It's just a lubricant that helps the sperm travel safely and easily to the egg to fertilize it. I'm thinking of trying it myself; we've been trying to conceive since November of last year, took a few months off because we were so busy with other things, and now we're starting up again this month. Anyway, here's the link if you're interested: www.babyhopes.com/pre-seed.html

And good luck!

(Oh, side note: my brother and his wife took 22 months to get pregnant but they now have a healthy boy born in March!)

Aww Kate. (F) I really feel for you. My best friend is going through this. Her dr diagnosed her as having PCOS - poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Have you ever heard of that, or asked your dr if that could be it?

Kate, I have Polycystic ovarian syndrome, that is why I felt like it was my fault about my son having a tumor but have since been told no it has nothing to do with me. I was told that I could not have any children because of this and other reasons, but lucky me, I had 3 wonderful beautiful boys! I would go to your doctor and ask him about this. There are classic signs of having this, and if you like you can pm and I will tell you what they are. Even if you don't have this, it is worth looking into because now they have more treatment and they will give you fertility pills if need be. THen again, with this whole process, you can just be totally stressed out and it will take your body sometime to adjust. I know it is easier said than done, but I would suggest relaxing and letting nature take its course. If you anticipate it every month, then it really isn't going to help.

Again, if you have any questions, pm me ok?

Laura Mitchell

Yes, I've been checked for PCOS and we had hoped that the tests would show that as I was having all the symptoms. but the ultrasound was okay as were the blood tests, so the DR said that it wasn't PCOS.

How thoroughly did they check? How 'normal' were your test results? I have a lot of the symptoms of PCOS and my GP was convinced that I had it, but the specialist disagreed because I was 'within normal limits' so nothing happened... but I still have the symptoms five years later and they're never going to go away. 'Normal' is a very arbitrary thing, and some women can have symptoms when they really have a very small imbalance. Not everyone with PCOS has cysts on their ovaries - it's a typical symptom, not a defining one.

I'd STRONGLY suggest that you visit a noticeboard called soul-cysters and read some of the posts there, and get some useful information. Then decide what you want to do about it... if you jump up and down and make enough fuss, eventually someone's going to listen and you might get some help.

Sorry, I should have read more before responding. I had blood work as well and an ultra sound and mine came back normal. It wasn't until they did laparoscopy to find out that I do have it. This was when I was 20. Could you perhaps get another opinion?

I've also heard that Robitussin, with Guiafenessin, is supposed to make more cervical fluid.. I've been taking it right before ovulation and it does "seem" to work, but I don't want to over-do it. I'm starting to develope a taste for it.

also, Evening Primrose Oil, is supposed to help with fertility.

HI Kate...Just got your PM and just noticed this..sorry I didn't early..been MAD busy around here! Seems like what I said is what a lot of other people are saying too..not that it IS, but COULD be stress...this immigration thing is a huge stressor even when everything goes perfectly!! With your AOS interview out of the way VERY soon :) hopefully things will calm down, and you can at least forget about THIS process for a while! :)

Also, my niece took a couple of years to get pregnant when she was about 29...and she was perfectly healthy, etc as well...they've been trying for a couple of years again now for another..but they have a gorgeous little 2 1/2 year old boy now. Here's hoping it happens for you VERY soon!!! (F) (F) (F) Hang in there, take care, all our best...M&C

Wow you girls. I must say, you are very strong. I have been diagnosed with a cyste on one of my ovaries when I was 16 or so. It was not big enough for surgery the doctor said and gave me a pill to get my period started again. Since then I never had a problem with it again. I stopped taking birth control about three months ago in hopes to become pregnant (I know three months is nothing but still I'm hoping every month) and even then I got my period in a perfect 32 day cycle. So it went back to perfectly normal. I will make an appointment with a gynecologist asap just to know that everything is ok.

I wish you girls all the best and lots of strength. Evi
