If you want to have a clear head, just go ahead & make an INFOPass appointment at your local office.

But I just want you to know that there is no definite rule or law for 2-year or 10-year PR Card.

I mean, If USCIS doesn't need an interview today with you & you're exempted,

they can also exempt you from the future possible interview to remove your conditional GC.

I think in your case, the date on your GC is correct but not the word "Conditional" in your Welcome Letter.

Let's assume that they've made a mistake on the date, if you send your GC back to correct it,

it might take months to get it back !....., so you know.

Also, do not forget that every case is DIFFERENT & UNIQUE !......

I called USCIS today.. they had to transferred me to someone who seems to be the supervisor, who's very friendly and helpful. Obviously they made a big mistake.. He checked into their computer and said nothing was wrong in their systems.. it shows that I am on a conditional 2-year GC.. when he heard i received the GC that won't expire until 2019 he found it odd and admitted it is a mistake.. so I have to mail this card back to them by filling the form I-90.. he also suggested I made an InfoPass appointment with local USC to get a stamp on my passwork to show I can work.. however.. since I already have my EAD I can skip that part.

I am glad that I called.

I'm glad you called too. Its better to be safe than sorry. As I said before you needed to check to see what is in the system. If it is conflicting then you and not USCIS will be held responsible as the RULE states that a conditional GC is valid for two years. Receiving a 10 yr card while your letter states that you were approved for a 2 yr card is conflicting and you are responsible to bring it to their attention an not feign ignorance. You did the right thing. As you say, you do not have to worry as you have your EAD but I would still get a stamp at the local USC as an EAD card only offers temporary positions and some organizations might prefer to see that you do not have a restricted permit. You never knowhow long it might take and an I-551 stamp also allows you to travel. Its up to you anyway.

thanks Kcoyclay1! I wish you all the best in your upcoming interview on Wednesday!

Thanks john_dot

Cino, I think you got it wrong. A 2 yr card allows you to work and travel for two year. Even though it is an approval there is still the burden of proof on the conditional GC holder to prove that the marriage wasn't just for permanent residency. Remember that some are denied, even though it might be only a few, after applying for removal.

A permanent resident will always be a PR unless they have done something that will cause it to be taken away from them. If a conditional resident does not apply for removal of conditions they will be placed on removal proceedings while a permanent resident is still a PR even if their residency has expired. They will not be allowed to work or travel or in some states they are not allowed to drive but hey do not lose their permanent residency. All they have to do is to renew it.

The date on the GC is definitely incorrect because they have not been approved after two years of marriage and that is the stipulation for receiving a PRGC . They have been married for only 4 months. Forget how long it might take for them to have the corrected GC mailed to them, the important thing is that when a cross reference is made at SS Office things doesn't come back to bite Ens.

See my topic on removing restrictions from a SS Card. Ens will have to remove restrictions from her SS Card if she applied for SS# using her EAD and they get information from the USCIS database. Now her GC will say 10 years and USCIS will state that it is conditional. I guess it will start an investigation to see if her card is fraudulent or real. Get what I am saying? I don't believe she should open a bag of worms by assuming anything.

My AOS has been approved, well, I assume it has! I have suffered one those USCIS twilight zone events (The music is  in my head right now!).

Today I checked my email and noticed I had one from the CRIS, quickly I opened it up to read, my excitement quickly turned to despair, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! The email stated that the greencard was undeliverable and as such had been returned to USCIS. It went on to say that I needed to contact USCIS and change my address!

All of this would be okay if it were not for the fact that I changed my address back in February, received notification stating I had done so and received my EAD card at my new address! So confused is putting it lightly, dumb founded more like, LOL!

So, any way I go ahead and call USCIS, I speak to this nice lady and mention that I have already changed my address. She tells me that there is a change address form on the system but, wait for it!, I had forgotten to add my new address! At this point I was becoming even more confused??????? I replied 'Well, if thats the case why did I receive a letter confirming my change of address for the I-485, I-765 , and I have since received my EAD card at my new address?????'. To which she said nothing, she was very confused too! Well to cut a long story short she took my address and said 'I am really sorry for all this, you should receive your greencard in the next 5-days, o.k'. I must mention that she was very polite and seemed amazed that this had happened!

The good news from all this is that I have got through the AOS barrier and am free, for a while longer at least!

Congratulations to everyone else who has received good news recently!

Good luck to everyone still waiting, I hope you hear something soon!

I always warn people in my threads which is :

NEVER NEVER EVER CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS DURING AOS PROCESS NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES ARE !....

The lady answered your phone call @ USCIS has been talking about the AR-11 form,

even if you change your address through that, even if you have confirmation,

even you have received your AP, even you have received your EAD AT THE NEW ADDRESS.

Believe me there is a big probability that your GC will be arriving in the old address which it did.

In a way, you are lucky that it wasn't lost, otherwise you would have had to pay $370

to get the new one & not to mention that it takes ages to get it.

GOOD LUCK !....

Congrats on the transfer-approvals!! Jan filers are moving along nicely :)

Best of luck on your interview tomorrow, kcoyclay!! Let us know how it goes, though I'm sure you'll be fine :D

I changed my address before I received my green card, but it was during my interview and the interviewing officer put it in the system on the spot. I safely received my green card yesterday at the updated address. Looks like I'll still need to fill in an AR-11 form as it only updates for the petition/application and you still need to keep USCIS informed of address changes. Hope you receive your green card soon, Barry!

On a side note, I received my green card yesterday :D
