i got my card in married name! need to make sure they recorded it right though cus i have 3 names and it didnt fit on the card so better make sure they have it completed in their records. yeah im excited to apply and ofcourse land a job. i was an RN in the PI, and will apply as an RN here as well..

i think u can apply to a tax preparer as an accountant..thats very good and stable business now adays i think

RN has very high damand job market not only in US but everywhere! I'm sure you can get a job real soon. and woow you have 3 names? u mean 3 names in the middle or ??

it is common in the Philippines to have 2 first names or even three or four first names. Our middle name would always be our mother's maiden name.

Ex.1 Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion: the "Maria Kristina Cassandra" are all considered part of the first name while Cuneta (the mom's maiden name) is the middle name and "Concepcion" (dad's last name/family name/surname) is the last name/family name.

Ex. 2 Kristina Bernadette Aquino Yap: "Kristina Bernadette" is the first name while "Aquino" (her maiden name/last name prior to marriage) is now the middle name since she has gotten married and "Yap" (her husband's last name) has become her last name.

It is probably confusing to others, esp to americans who do it a different way... in the same way that it was confusing to us Filipinos how the middle name is what we consider part of the first name and why US born citizens can't just take the mom's maiden name as the middle name. ... but well, we are all learning from each other and trying to adapt in the best way we can... even with the complexity of handling names.

I got 2 first name and the SSA messed up my first name by making my first 2 names one word. So now I have to fix it right away when I receive my GC. Our tax return was rejected because my name doesnt match with the number and found out its because of my 2 word first name. My husband always get confused too why I have so many names. Lol! And also the bank and other bills made my second name as my middle initial which is not really my middle name. I keep on explaining that jane is my second name and "P" is my middle initial not "J". yea in Philippines its so common to give at least 2-3 first name to their kids.

Shes, have you started sending resume to hospital? Where are you located? Im here in Massachusetts and im also RN here. I applied to several job posting online in hospital, long term carm facility and nursing homes. Still no call from them. I heard some hospitals here freeze hiring for nurses. My friend advice me to go to hospital and to hand deliver my resume because the HR will look at your application right away. So that's what I did last Friday, and luckily was able to spoke with the director of nursing. She is very nice. She gave me her calling card and told me to call her if I didnt get a call within 2 weeks from her. I asked if they are hiring and she said yes we're always hiring. Its a big advantage to personally submit your resume coz the HR will think you give an effort to go to their location plus they can review your application right then. Hope we will get job soon. I got approved today at the Phoenix office! The whole interview lasted less than 10 minutes, the officer just looked at our photos. She also asked how we met, and how many times I've been to the US. Overall, it was easy peesie, good luck to everyone else.

We got an email saying our I485 is approved and the notice is on the way.. so does this mean the greencard is on the way or it will come at a later time??

First, CONGRATULATIONS !....

It means "Welcome Letter" & GC are on the way. They usually come one after another.

First "Welcome Letter" & then GC.

I am sure you will get both of them in this month.

Thanks Glo. With my interview coming up tomorrow, I am having troubles concentrating on my work. Yesterday, I panicked because I "thought" I lost my passport, even though I put them in a very secure place. My interview is at 12:30pm tomorrow, I will post my experience after it. Wish me luck, everybody.

Yes, my visa was canceled in error last summer when I tried to come back from Canada after a 2 days trip. The officer mistakenly asked me for EAD card as my work authorization, which I didn't have (I had CPT for my paid full time internship). Later they found out it was a mistaken, but the cancellation is not reversible, but they told me that they have taken care of everything else. However, my visa had a big cross saying it was canceled now. (It also says it was canceled in error on the next page) Thats why I am so worried.

Thank you. Everything basically was print-out, so I can just give whatever to them. I am worried because I have a canceled visa. I hope they will understand it was a mistake.

Wow, that was fast. Did u ask for a stamp? I plan on asking for stamp (if I am approved), cuz I am going to have an internship in early may and I don't want to use my CPT(need to register for 1 credit class, and its 900 dollars). I went down to the office today, it was indeed very hard to find.

Yup Phoenix USCIS is hiding at the corner, you wouldnt know until you check up the directory. And no, I haven't ask a stamp, I was too happy to forget about it! I know your interview is coming up and u're super nervous but I'm sure u will be okay. Last time I went there everyone were very nice and they may probably ask you more about ur relationship since you aint adjust from K1. Rem to keep a set of copy since they will need them for filing. I wish you best of luck for ur interview and pls keep us updated!

Well like you said they have wrote down your visa was canceled in error on the next page then it should be good enough for overcome the problem. I'm sure u will be just fine like I and andiste08, the officer there were very nice so you should be ok. I look forward to hear your good news when you comes back from interview! Good luck!

Today has been a very big day for my wife! Her English tutor said she "has made great progress", she used her new debit card for the first time, she used her new credit card for the first time, she passed her driver's learners permit test, and when we came home, the "Welcome" letters were waiting in our mailbox!

We are leaving on Saturday for vacation, and they will be flying home to Ukraine before we return to our home. I do not know if the Green cards will arrive by Friday, but would really be nice if they did so they do not have to use their AP's.
