Hey guys, just want to share my news and let you know we were approved yesterday :star:

We arrived about 20 minutes early and there were three other couples waiting, one of them had a huge box full of documents that was about 6-7 inches thick! We just waited around 5 minutes for someone to call us in. We were interviewed by the same officer separately starting with me (I had read that they interview couples separately in Indianapolis). He swore me in then asked for identification. He looked at my passport while I was taking it out and said "Romania huh?" (I'm from the UK lol). Both countries have dark red passports but the UK one is a lot darker. After correcting him, he looked at our file and asked some questions like name, DOB, husband's name and put a check by each on my file. He then asked a few questions about our relationship: how did you meet, when did you get engaged, when were you married, have you been separated since you got married, has my husband visited the UK. He then told me that if my husband's answers matched mine he would approve my case and to watch out for my green card within 30 days. He didn't ask me for any of the evidence that I brought and been stressing out over the past week, tax returns, joint bank statements, bills, photos, nothing... I was almost disappointed lol. He didn't take my EAD, AP or I-94 either.

My husband went in after me, was sworn in by the officer, asked same questions and was then told he would approve our case :D My husband said the officer also asked if he was graduating this year and when he told the officer about a job offer he got from a government agency, they ended up spending most of the time discussing government salary grades and benefits

We're so relieved that we can take a break from paperwork for a while now! Thanks for everyone's support, this support on this website is great :) Wishing everyone else who are still waiting for approvals/interviews a smooth journey and good luck!

CONGRATS! Since our cases were transferred to the CSC, I am not sure if we will be required to interview in Indy, but if we have to, I know more about what to expect, now! Thanks for all of the details, and CONGRATS again!

Congrats!!!! lol I'm from HK everyone there at least holding 2 countries passport and I'm holding British passport (I dun have HK nor China passport) too, the officer was soo confused and was like so you are from HK without HK passport & u're citizen with 3 countries? And we ended up just put HK as my citizenship cuz its the last place I lived. Just wonder if we can go to British embassy to change our name after everything done? :innocent:

Look forward to see you posting for having a welcome letter & green card on hand!!:dance::dance:

Thanks all! I also received my SSN in the mail today, so a good week this week :star: My husband was applying for a replacement card so I've never seen it before - was a bit of a letdown seeing it on a scrappy bit of paper, not even a plastic card lol

So it doesn't matter if you got a conditional GC or a ten year GC you have to wait 3 years to file for naturalization? I thought you only had to wait if you had a conditional GC.
hilkka28586, yes you have to wait 3 full years after receiving your first legal status.
hahaha sorry now i'm even more confused what do you mean by first legal status? because technically my first legal status would have been my k-3 visa, not so.

kcoyclay1 must be referring to your first legal permanent residency status here in the US. The reason why you needed to adjust status was because the K3 was only an entry visa and did not automatically grant you permanent residency status.

maybe kcoyclay1 or others could expound on this.

Yes dbears, the entry visa does not grant you permanent residency status. It is three years after the AOS interview is approved.

another thing hilkka... just to straighten things out. I mentioned that once you get your permanent residency you will always be a PR but of course it goes without saying that we are living as law-abiding PR's, if not then they can take away the privilege of permanent status because it is a privilege and not an entitlement if you understand what I mean. it is also one of the reasons it is necessary to be a "good" PR in order for them to grant naturalization. We have to earn it as it too can be denied.

Wow, that was fast. Did u ask for a stamp? I plan on asking for stamp (if I am approved), cuz I am going to have an internship in early may and I don't want to use my CPT(need to register for 1 credit class, and its 900 dollars). I went down to the office today, it was indeed very hard to find.

Got a welcome letter today!:dance::dance:

I wish everyone have a speedy AOS journey and have a good weekend! :star:
