Hey Guys

We had our Interview today and I am happy to say I was approved!!! :) We arrived at 1:45 for our 2 pm appointment, went through security and had to wait for 15 min before being called in by a Middle aged Female officer. She saw me carrying in huge photo albums and remarked later that she thought i would get a hernia carrying them in But she did not even look at one picture. As soon as we entered she swore us in asked us to take a seat. Then she asked us for our ids and then asked how me met, how long did we know each other before we got married, and then verified the information on the forms and asked the usual 'No' questions on the i-485. Then she asked for joint proof so we provided our utility bills and when we gave her our joint health + life insurance she said yes that was very good and after that she did not want anymore. But just to be safe, i kind of forced her to take a joint bank statement lol.

After that, she took the i-94 out, wrote something on it, then stamped approved on the 485. She asked for my EAD and AP, laughed at the fact they printed my wifes pic on the AP by mistake, then stamped my passport with the temporary stamp good for a year :) I was kind of happy i did not have to ask for it. Overall, the IO was really friendly and polite and didn't make us feel uncomfortable at all.

So I think I am done because i saw her stamp the forms with the Big Approval stamp and got the stamp in the passport but my online status still says received and pending and that my case is still at NBC.... thats weird but no card production ordered touch...

Anyways thanks to everyone here on this forum for answering a lot of questions and helping me save some big money on lawyer fees and for sharing their experiences so i knew what to expect.

LeaAndBen you could have tested your self on the computer regarding your state's DMV test. Congrats on passing the written test and all the best with the road test. I need to get my NYC license soon as an additional ID as I am driving around on my foreign and my international DL (which is accepted in NY) however, I understand that when you receive your residency you need to change it to the state that you are living in and hand over the foreign DL so I will do that after my interview.

Hey Guys,

I've noticed that status on USCIS.gov hasnt changed since 01/30/2009, which is OK since USCIS.gov web site tends not to work. However what about the 1800 number? Is the 1800 up to date? Has any recieved there EAD and then called the 1800 number, did it still say case recieved and pending. Is the 1800 number and website corrleated?

If you would call the 1800 number, insist to be transferred to a supervisor because the first person you will talk to will only see what you see online, if you can't see anything, then they won't be much help... but the supervisor have more access and they can really check the status of your application in their computer, far beyond what we see online and what the first customer service can see.

I have my interview date and EAD now, my AOS still can't be seen online while the EAD has never changed beyond the production date.

Steve and Tiff, it really seem as if the USCIS is working in overdrive. It is taking 3 months for them to complete some cases, from the initial check-cashing to the interview date, that would normally take 6 to 7 months.

We are truly blessed. For most of us our EAD barely reaches us before its time for our interview. Well we are not complaining though . I just hope that it is the beginning of a quicker processing time for everyone.

I've been monitoring this forum for a while now and by the look of things us January filers look like a lucky bunch. cant complain myself. Thought my case would have been slow as the agen on uscis told me that my case would take 8 months; however i already received my interview for May 5th.

Also forgot to state that i've been married since July 2006.
