Hey Guys

We had our Interview today and I am happy to say I was approved!!! :) :) We arrived at 1:45 for our 2 pm appointment, went through security and had to wait for 15 min before being called in by a Middle aged Female officer. She saw me carrying in huge photo albums and remarked later that she thought i would get a hernia carrying them in :P But she did not even look at one picture. As soon as we entered she swore us in asked us to take a seat. Then she asked us for our ids and then asked how me met, how long did we know each other before we got married, and then verified the information on the forms and asked the usual 'No' questions on the i-485. Then she asked for joint proof so we provided our utility bills and when we gave her our joint health + life insurance she said yes that was very good and after that she did not want anymore. But just to be safe, i kind of forced her to take a joint bank statement lol.

After that, she took the i-94 out, wrote something on it, then stamped approved on the 485. She asked for my EAD and AP, laughed at the fact they printed my wifes pic on the AP by mistake, then stamped my passport with the temporary stamp good for a year :) :) I was kind of happy i did not have to ask for it. Overall, the IO was really friendly and polite and didn't make us feel uncomfortable at all.

So I think I am done because i saw her stamp the forms with the Big Approval stamp and got the stamp in the passport but my online status still says received and pending and that my case is still at NBC.... thats weird but no card production ordered touch...

Anyways thanks to everyone here on this forum for answering a lot of questions and helping me save some big money on lawyer fees and for sharing their experiences so i knew what to expect.

Wish everyone else a speedy process and best of luck!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Am happy for you!! thanks for sharing..

Does anyone know what happened with A&N or johnichka?? Both their cases have passed the estimated 90 days for the EAD and yet nothing has appeared in lure of an update. Just wondering because my 90 day mark is coming up quickly and I'm starting to worry a little.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems and finding all this waiting so frustrating. I can assure you that you are not waiting for nothing, from your timeline I see you posted your AOS on the 23rd of January and you are still within the time frame. Your RFE could have been regarding tax information for the Affidavit of support, or maybe even for something much simpler?

It sounds as though you need to sit down together and talk things over, you need to know everything that is going on regarding your Adjustment of Status application, afterall you are the one this process is being carried out for. These moments can be very testing for the both of you, it can kind of make you feel a bit useless at times, with not being able to work etc, etc. Remember that it is both of you feeling like this, the reason you got married was because you loved each other and this means sharing everything, even the stuff you dont like or particularly care for. Dont allow this process to come between you both because sooner or later it will be over and you will look back and realise it was worth it.

Another important thing to realise is that you came over to the US amd it can be really hard leaving everything you cared for back home behind. Both of you need to realise the sacrifice you have made, dont just think that it is nothing big because it is! Also remember to get involved in other things, dont just sit around waiting for your EAD, AP and all that to arrive in the mail because that can be draining on the soul! Before you know it everything will be sorted and remember that their are lots of us in similar situations that you can talk to.

Hello Hilkka,

As of tomorrow my EAD application will be exactly at 90 days. I have already contacted my lawyer and he will contact USCIS and ask for a service request. My lawyer also confirmed that I have NOT received an RFE. I will keep you posted as soon as i hear something. My lawyer also confirmed that I have NOT received an RFE. Also, USCIS and CRIS website seems to not work for some individuals. I've notice many people have received there EAD cards and the website will still show "case received and pending". So don't give up hope you will get yours soon!!!

Just as an FYI, you can request a service request if your case is past 75days.

Please keep us posted with your application status!

Came to US with Parents in 1987 on a B2.

Can someone please adjust the date for shes interview? It is listed as 03/15 but when I visited her profile it is scheduled for 05/15. I do not know how to adjust it.

it has been adjusted. :)

Okay guys... I have a question!

What do you wear to the interview?? Do you dress like if you were going to a job interview? or more casual?

I would be wearing something a little more casual but still respectable. I would be wearing long sleeves polo shirt or 3/4ths blouse and then pair it off with slacks (dress pants)... i would ask my husband to wear slacks and polo shirt also, he is not into the tie thing.

are you getting excited for your interview? less than a month and it will be the day.

And this morning I started thinking .."what should I wear?"... but I wasn't sure... So I decided to ask my friends from VJ :P

I normally wear jeans and shirts... but i guess for this *SPECIAL OCASION* i will dress more formal lol. If my husband were going to attend the interview, im sure he would want to wear a suit or his uniform

Good luck on your upcoming interview Marikiya...Wish all the best!

I just have one question to everyone here: I came here in the US on k3 visa, we have been married more than 3 years now; Should I expect an interview letter/appointment? Or a letter from USCIS ststing my case is transferred?

I just don't know what to expect now...please enlighten me on this matter...

Thank you!

yeah, that's right, your husband is a serviceman. i hope you have everything ready, his letter of appointment and everything. i know, whatever you will choose to wear, you will look fab and you will get approved just as long as you carry yourself with confidence.

I am also a jeans (blue jeans) and shirt girl, except when i go to church on sundays.

It doesn't matter if you came here on a K3 visa, we are all AOS applicants and I guess all our cases are processed the same way. Only USCIS knows whose case gets transferred or not so you can expect either of the two. What you can expect though is getting the 10 years permanent green card since you have been married 3 years already.

Hi everybody

Please help!!!!

I am a new person here. Please help me for this question: Could I send the copy of " Fiance Letter of Intent" to USCIS, not the original?

Regards

Ann

Hello dear, fiance/fiancee letter of intent required an original signature so USCIS needs the original. i would assume you are still filing the initial I-129F petition. I don't know if you are the beneficiary (intending immigrant) or the petitioner (US citizen). I was the beneficiary before and I had to mail my letter of intent and the G-325 forms to my then fiance (husband now) so he could mail it off together with the initial petition.

Btw, this is the AOS forum, you are welcome to hang out here since some of us has gone through K1 process also and we can probably provide answers in case you need one again.. but if there is new guidelines for K1, you might receive better answers in these forum: K1 visa case filing and progress report. Immigration is a long agonizing journey and it would also be best if you get to talk to people who are going through the same process at the same time like you do.

I wish you the best of luck in your visa process. God bless.

It can be either of them. There is no rule !.....

When you get your GC, it is gonna be 10-year, NOT 2-year conditional.

dbears thanks for updating shes information.

Today I filed joint taxes with my husband. It felt great being in the system and receiving a refund from Uncle Sam. Well that's one more evidence available for our interview.

Our accountant told us that the April 15 deadline is really for those who owes Federal taxes. He said that IRS allows up to three years for filing your taxes providing you are receiving a refund. Because I just received my SS# he did not file it electronically as he said it would bounce back but told us to mail it in where it would be accepted. We will be mailing it tomorrow.

I really hope to see more interview dates, EAD card and AP received by those who are "patiently" waiting. For those of us with upcoming interviews, prepare, prepare, prepare. All the best.
